Hello Everyone! I haven't blogged in a while and I apologise for that. Internet time was either hard to get to and/or very expensive. I want you all to know that I have cut my trip short and that I am at HOME in Ottawa, safe and sound. I have had an amazing 6 month journey and I will write all about it so you can find out more. I will write it in a small e-book and send it out to everyone to read at their leisure. The reasons I cut the trip short are many, but suffice it to say that it was mostly because, even tho I was enjoying myself immensely, I just missed home, family and friends more and more. After about 2 weeks of wishing I was at home every night, ... read more

Hello All! I know it has been a long time since I've blogged, but between the lack of free time, free internet time and pc time, it's been difficult to get the time I need to blog the rest of my story about the camino and beyond. Unfortunately, I still don't have the time to do that, but I promise you, it's coming. Some of you have sent concerned emails wondering where I am, how I am doing...if I am still alive...Suffice it to say that I am safe, healthy and happy!! Since ending the Camino, I spent a few weeks in Portugal and then on to Rome and am still here. I will be here until Dec. 27 - spending Christmas with my cousin, Jocelyne and her daughter, Jasmyne. I will go to New Zealand ... read more

Hi Everyone! A bit soon to blog again, but I am now in a small town called Hospital de Orbigo....one stop before Astorga. I will be here for 2 days because of a bad infection in my foot....let me start at the beginning, or again, where I left you last time...in Atapuerca... The next morning, we went back to that same restaurant and had the same big-bellied, smoking, very slow guy serving us...took about a half hour to get a coffee and a chocolate croissant - that has become my breakfast as often as I can get it! And then there´s always the Ibuprofen for dessert. Anway, I started off alone that day and walked for a while on my own, singing as usual. There were actually a lot of people on the road that day, ... read more

It´s been a while now after spending a couple of days traveling with Linda and it´s been quite an adventure! Let me start at the beginning, or where I left you last time...in Villa Tuerta (which I was calling Villa Tortilla). There are a couple of things that I really haven´t been sharing so far because I´ve either forgotten or I´ve just been in such a state of joy and bliss most of the time, that I haven´t thought of sharing it. Soon after I got off the internet last time, I went out to the terrace where the dog was (remember the big black great dane, Torre?) I started patting him and all of a sudden he just snapped at me! He didn´t get me cuz I jumped back just in time, but if he ... read more

Hey Everyone, Thanks for all the messages and comments on my blog and on the photos´on FB. I truly appreciate them all. It makes me feel closer to home. After I left you last time, I was in Puenta La Reina. A large town or small city. I was staying in an Albergue that didn´t really have any charm to it. It was in the basement of a hotel. I found out later that there were 2 more there. One was an ancient one in the middle of the city and one was a brand new "chain" albergue just on the other side. I would have preferred to stay in the ancient one of course. As it turned out, it was good to stay where I was because I ended up meeting a nice young man, ... read more

...and I´m singin´my hobblin´song....I´m just hobblin´along... Helllloooo! First I´d like to thank everyone for the healing energy! I felt it all! So, after I wrote the last time, I went for a little walk around the Albergue and found a couple of nice Irish girls, Betty and Linda. Both from Dublin. They were cousins. Betty has done the Camino many times and knows the author of the book that most people carry to do the Camino. She talks non-stop with that famous Irsh accent (eighteen and tirty four). They were a lot of fun. We were joined by a Canadian couple from Thunder Bay, Iris and Rob. Nice too...everyone is on the Camino, it seems. Anyway, we sat around a table outside all night drinking wine and chatting. At one point, this lovely girl from Sweden ... read more

I´m not really sure what day this is or how many days I´ve been on the Camino, but I´ll try to get it all in here since I started. It has been amazing in many ways! Camino Day 1 Ken and I joined together in St. Jean Pied de Port and started out a little later than everyone else. We headed down to the post office to see if we could send stuff ahead as my pack was very heavy. Ken needed to send some post cards. It turned out that it would have been very expensive to send from there, so I carried everything. After the post office, we headed out of town and started the journey. We walked along a country road and went up and up and up. It was a very steep ... read more

Hi Everyone, Unfortunately, I can,t post any pics with this blog, but rest assured, I will as soon as I can. I had a completley amazing time in bordeaux, thanx to my CS host Katia. She met me at the tram station when I got into town which was quite late at night. We brought my pack to her flat which is right in the middle of the old city and near the river, the opera, the shopping and the restaurants. We went for a midnight stroll and saw beautiful bordeaux at night...I was in awe! The next day, after going to the market to get some fresh fruit, we had a nice breakfast (late) and I went exploring on my own. Lots of fun; then KATIA joined me a little later and showed me some of ... read more

...and I'm only in Paris! It's day 3 in Paris already and getting ready to hit the road again. So far it has been great. I landed here at 7am on Sept: 4, grabbed my bp, got on an airport bus, got off at the Opèra, got on the Metro to la Gare de l'Est, Quickly got on a hop on-hop off city tour bus and went to see all the sites in the city. Of course I forgot my camera in my bp which I had stored at the Gare. I didn't get off the bus much except to pee, grab a sandwhich and go up the Eiffel tower. The day was raining on and off and of course when I got on the lift to go up the tower, it started to downpour really ... read more

Well, the countdown begins. One week to go!! I've got almost everything done and bought except a set of long underwear and I still have to go pick up the Euros I ordered from the bank. Plus I still have to move my clothes from my dresser so Maureen can put hers away. No, I haven't packed yet. I will wait until the last day to pack. I have to try to keep my back pack to under 14 LBs, so may have to rethink what I'll be bringing. I will arrive in Paris at 7am Sept. 4. I am staying with a CS girl for 2 nights and then taking the late high speed train to Bordeaux where I will stay for 2 nights again with another CS girl. Then not sure until I get ... read more
