Oktoberfest...where to begin...ahhh, I know, There was a silly old man with a knack of jumping off cliffs in a sack then one day jumping in his usual way his wife wore nothing but black We commenced Oktoberfest in much the same way we ended Oktoberfest - missing most of our crew. The Cap and I were approximately 2 hours late to the airport, and the Mills and Kennah were nowhere to be found. Fortunately, the tide turned at base camp when we saw two handsome fellows walking in our general direction all ready to commence the consumption of litre beers. [View Full Entry]

Our tall tale last ended on our voyage through France into the little town that could, Geneva. We arrived at approximately 3am after 7/8 hours of driving. Suffice it to say, the Cap and I were way too exhausted to exhaust ourselves with finding a hostel (not to forget that hostels are around 30-40 Fr. a night), so we laid rest at the first parking lot we could find and slept in the car. I woke to the sound of children at approximately 8am. Thats right, children. For we had parked ourselves in a 15 minute child drop off at some [View Full Entry]

After approximately 6 days, we determined that Amsterdam had been successfully defeated, and it was time to head to Belgium. The reason? Well, after 6 days of Heineken it was about time for some real beer, and there is no better place than Belgium. Oh god, is there no better place than Belgium. But where oh where in Belgium? Well, I guess theres no better way than hitting the motorway and finding out first-hand. We first drove towards Antwerpe and shortly found out that there wasn't much going on there, although from the shots you can clearly tell it is a [View Full Entry]

Our Voyage last saw us renting a Ford Fiesta in Frankfurt and heading north through Koln and Dusseldorf into the Netherlands. For these 4 hours we lived life in the fast lane - challenging our 90 horsepower beast on the Autobahn. We made it to 183km/hr, which for those in the know, is damn impressive for 90 steeds. I will also note I had my first standard driving lesson in which the Captain said I did very very well...for first gear...in a parking lot... And so I lead you to Amsterdam...the city of many paradoxes (paradoxi?). And possible blog names: AmsterDANG!!, [View Full Entry]

Acrapolis Europe » Greece » Attica » Athens
First and foremost, I would like to apologize to my greek uncle, Uncle Lou, for any potential offense i may make. AVOID ATHENS This once legendary city (birthplace of democracy) is now home to rude people and over-rated Akropoliseseses. Captain Jones Smitherington and I nestled in a small budget hotel and took it upon ourselves to explore the city. The first item we noted was how courtious the ancient Greeks truly were - by painting all the ridiculous scaffolding the same colour as the Parthenon it surrounded. Glorious!!! Oh, and thanks to the security guard who yelled at [View Full Entry]

The Odyssey and the Rehab Europe » Greece » South Aegean » Ios
Tired of our days of rest in Santorini, we voyaged to the backpacking / party isle of Ios. Where, true to its description, we partied and backpacked. Allow me to lead you through our days: wake up at 1pm. get frustrated that the captain remains asleep burn self at pool eat spaghetti take a nap go up in flames and make way to rehab dance and sing and drink repeat Drink of choice? Flaming Lamborghinis...approximately 4 or 5 a night, we reckon. Flames and Rehab remind me of Carrot Top the comedian. While not human, nor prop comics, the bars really [View Full Entry]

Rocks... Europe » Greece » South Aegean » Santorini
After circumventing the globe, and any sort of moral conscience we once had, the Captain and I decided to take it easy for a couple days on the glorious volcano Greek Isle of Santorini. This is of course, not to say that our time here was without Mythos or Whiskey...it was just consumed in more, healthier and practical portions. Essentially the focus of such an island is the sunset tours and the volcano. So, in conclusion this island had rocks and gas, gas and rocks. Judge for yourself how marvellous these items can be. Oh, and there also was some lukewarm [View Full Entry]

Here I come MYKONOS!!! Europe » Greece » South Aegean » Mykonos
PART I The Captain and I have been into town twice now. Our adventures have led us against a swashbuckling Aussie Infantryman to erotic demon crotch thrusters. The Space Sirens thrusted in rage showing glimpses of glory while never bothering to lighten their brow. Captain Jones Smitherington and I seduced the sexy door guardian, only to be disappointed by her lack of punctuality as well as the emptiness of a lavish space promised. But we are faregoers, and travelling was our name. But of course, this was all sequel to the Mythos and our tango with the Brits. I believe my [View Full Entry]

Upon arrival in Dublin, we quickly set out in search of the legendary Black Gold. Aye, and what a treasure it be. Our visit here is best described as follows: Awaken. Tend to wounds from the night before. Walk around town. Remark at how amazingly friendly and jolly the Irish are, and how dreadfully unattractive downtown Dublin is. Make our way through the Gaelic city towards the Storehouse. The Guinness Storehouse. Beautiful. Let me take this opportunity to tell you something about Guinness: you can only get it in Ireland. That stuff you drink elsewhere? Not Guinness. I liken [View Full Entry]

Go on... Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Aberdeen
I am First Mate Hawkswan, travelling under the leadership and guide of Captain Jones Smitherington. The Captain had been sailing the skies for some time already, but this had been my first venture out under his tutilege. I am eager and I am excited, but am also ready. And this is my tale... PRELUDE I arrive in Aberdeen, Northern Scotland with a pack on my back, a pack on my chest, and the cool breeze on my face. Glorious. The sky is intermixed with clouds as I overlook the countryside from the entrance of the airport. Perhaps it was the 12 [View Full Entry]
