And six monthes until my 22nd Birthday!!! Geez I feel old today. Got up early and got ready for class. I went to Foundation house to find out that my 1000a class started 30 minutes earlier! And the great thing about it was that every other person in my BLC class from SNC was late as well! I laughed! Class was alright, but then after class I went to an empty classroom to work on my final paper for history. Which all that I got completed was the research. Then, when i got done with that, i had to go on the field trip to the British Museum. It was pretty lame, well, the tour was. The British Museum was fascinating, but I have already been there a few times and have seen the things i ... read more

Today we all slept in for some reason. All of my roommates and I slept.in and so did the other people on our floor. It was really weird because none of us went out at all. We all for the most part were just tired, i guess, so we slept in. So, I decided to start my paper for History on Queen Victoria, but then I got distraced. We watched American Idol because they show it here on Sundays a few weeks behind the schedule in the US. But, we watched TV and we did homework and I had four final papers to do, and i was putting it off. I went to grocery store to get some food and to starbucks to get coffee. I was downstairs in the common room doing my paper and ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Oxfordshire » Oxford February 11th 2006

After a long night of restless sleep I got up at what seemed to be way TOO early for a Saturday morning. But I did my thing and had my coffee and cereal and got ready for a trip to Oxford! It was absolutely wonderful. So, antique and beautiful. Basically Oxford was different from what i thought it was. I thought it was one big school, but it really is an elite association of colleges and no matter what school a person attends, the degree says Oxford University. Also, I found out HOW "expensive" it is to attend an Oxford school. It only costs 1,000 - 3,000 GBpounds a year. That means that it costs only $6,000 American dollars to attend! So, remind me then why i am going to school where it costs me about ... read more

Because I got a great e-mail today, it made my day...I also finished some laundry that needed to be done so I can begin thinking about my spring break, only a couple more weeks to go! i also was really tired so i went to bed early! Thursday Class 9-12 A bit boring, we watched two movies on the role of the royalty in the twentieth century. I am so glad that class is almost over, but i still have that stupid 3,000 word essay to ... read more

Woke up rather early, showered and got dressed. Found out that today the Circle Line/District Line were both shut down for the day because someone was on the tracks...not cool, so again, since i left early enough for my interview, I was able to move navigate around it. i went to my interview and managed to get through it all right. I thought it was probably one of the worst experiences of my life. I came so prepared for it, to discuss what I would like to do and what not, but when I showed up, I got coffee with the other intern and Charlie, who will be my supervisor. Well, I say and looked like a buffoon, the entire time the other intern and Charlie talked about their weekends. I mean, I know that there ... read more

Europe » France » Nord-Pas de Calais » Lille February 6th 2006

So, this was another low key week of classes. Monday I got up early from few hours of sleep to leave Lille in the wee hours of the morning. I slept the entire way back on the train. Then i got back to Waterloo to low and behold find out the tube line that I needed to take to Gloucester Road was down! And I was tired and had to go to class! Argh. But the Tube is easy to follow, so I figured my way around it. Then, I thought i was 30 minutes late to class, so I thought since I am so late already, i might as well stop at starbucks and get coffee. But when I got to foundation house, I found out I was a half hour early because I hadn't ... read more

Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris February 4th 2006

Well, after about a two and a half hour sleep. Liz and I got up, we decided to get up later than planned because we weren't going to shower. Now, that may sound gross to some of my American friends, but it is customary over here to go a few days between showers. Although, it is different and I embrace and can tolerate it. It is not something I would ever choose to do freely. But, anyway (did you see that mom? ANYWAY!!!!), we got up very early to catch the metro to Lille Flanders. There we bought tickets to Paris. Are reasoning for leaving for Paris was two-fold. 1. Gives up the most time in Paris 2. it is cheaper. I think the latter outweighed the former though. So, tickets in hand, we waited for ... read more

Today I got up early and packed up my bag and took a shower, got dressed and went to class. The entire class I was watching the clock intently. FINALLY class was over and I went back to my room grabbed my bag and filled out my travel release and got on the tube. I changed at Waterloo international station for the Eurail and went through security. It was just like going through security for the airport, but that make sense, because it is just like an international airport. Then, I got on the train. And I had a window seat, and I watched out the window the entire way. It was like a dream. I smiled the entire way! And then we went through the Chunnel and it was really fast and when got on ... read more

So this week really made me see why it is called "study" abroad. I spent most of the time studying and doing homework. But, even when I was studying, I was also online IMing on AIM, checking e-mails and listening to online radio! Then, I realized all the work that I have been doing this week, would really equal probably one day of homework at SNC! Crazy, huh? Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to add to this entry either, so it just goes to show what kind of a BLAH week it has been in ye ole Londontown. Monday- BLC! We talked a lot about religion and media. And it was interesting because I had been to the Anglican Church the night before. I got my first paper assignment and began to start working on ... read more

I got up early and showered and went to an Anglican Mass! It was surprisingly similar to a Catholic Mass. However, the church consisted of 30 people present. But they people were very friendly! Now, contrary to common analogies of the churchgoing population. There were probably 10 elderly people, 10 middle-agers and 10 people under age thirty (those ten do include myself and the 3 altar servers). But the population at this church was a lot more diverse than what I was expecting. After church I went and got my groceries for the week at Sainsbury's! Pretty good stuff. then I went for breakfast at Cafe Deco, which is probably my favorite place on Gloucester Road! So, cute and so GOOD. Best cup of coffee you can get for a pound!!! Then I just walked around ... read more
