An invitation to join Scottish friends on their trip to Cuba has prompted a spontaneous why not thought. While not on my bucket list radar it made sense to see Cuba before the inevitable changes likely to occur following the recent policy changes by the US government to formally recognise the state and to lift economic sanctions.
Given the difficulty required to reach Cuba it made sense to add a side trip to another place of interest, Mexico.
My trip is planned for approx. 5 I/2 weeks from early November to mid December starting with a 2 week organised trip mainly focused on the ancient civilizations of Mexico before catching up with friends. Cuban itinerary is very fluid at the moment but likely to base ourselves in key towns for 4 – 5 days for easy day touring around these stops.
