Well folks, here we are! Hope you´ve been anxiously awaiting your next installment of Landon and Maresa´s traveling circus southbound. Minus the animals, we often feel like a clown show bumbling from town to town. Sometimes there are animals...like the random dog that follows you home and pees on your tent, or the one-legged, red-eyed pigeon in the park. Although, we have yet to pull in money like the carnies do. We´ve had some major changes in the last few months and as always some fabulous stories to go along. We´ve changed continents, hemispheres, and when before we were merely boyfriend/girlfriend we are now engaged! Although some things are still the same. For example; we´re still wearing the same clothes, don´t wear deodorant, and havn´t worked in 5 months. We left you last in Boquete, Panama ... read more

... and sun-tanned faces and the coming of Christmas with the promise of sand instead of snow. Since we last wrote in San Jaun del Sur, Nicaragua, we´ll start there. We ended up staying there a week and then we got word that my brother, Andre, was making plans for a quickie surf trip. Next thing we knew we hopped on a bus, crossed the border into Costa Rica and five hours later were sitting on a park bench in Liberia, Costa Rica. Our official meeting place was...central park 2pm. Low and behold, a watermelon and a beer later (this is the first country with beers over $1) Andre pulls around the corner in the rental car. The meeting was a success. All thanks to the magic of the world wide web. Soon, we were off ... read more

We left you a somewhere in San Pedro, Guatemala rght around the beginning of the "gringo trail". Normally we like trails, fun little adventures in the woods to get away people. Now it is one big adventure trying to avoid the trail. And so we find ourselves in Granada, Nicaragua...the jackpot of gringo-ville. We've broken some records, stories deserving to be told. One being our grandest collectivo ride. Transportion seems to bring us great entertainment. Coban, Gautemala (central highlands) to Lanquin, Gautemala (deep, central low-lands). 2 hours. 12 passenger Toyota mini-van, 23 people, 300 lb. driver, 1 man that urinated, 2 dead turkeys, and 24 pigs on top. Needless to say our final destination, Semuc Champey, priceless. We stayed at Las Marias on the shore of the Rio Cahabon. Up the river from us was a scene ... read more

San Pedro has treated us great, but it´s time to get a move on. We are Chichi bound tomorrow for the Sunday market. It took us about 10 minutes to figure it out, but we´ve spent 11 days here in San Pedro. Now I finally don´t hit the deck everytime I hear the regular artillary shell blasts. Sounds like the town is being bombed, but they´re just celebrating something. Hotel San Francicso was our lovely abode with fabulous views and the sweetest of people running it. Our only strange encounters there were a curious cowboy who came creeping up asking how much our Ipod cost...we averted conversation...and the spiritual shamen wanting to sell us his Mayan flutes and mother earth carvings to supposedly protect us from evil spirits...he was a talented salesman, and full of crap. ... read more

Ah... San Pedro La Laguna resting on the shores of Lago de atitlan in the highlands of guatemala. ´´pan de banan, pan de coco, pan de chocolat...´´ these are the sounds of San Pedro. The women who carry these baskets of fresh bread on their heads are incredibly burly. It has been somewhat of an adventure getting here but at last we have made it to the land of the cheap. We began the trip about a week ago in guatemala city we arrived just in time for the country´s indapendance day celebration. The city was absoutly alive and a little intimidating, but with the help of a friend Senior Lopez and his son we were able to find some accomodations for the evening in the more run down part of town. Although, we quickly realized ... read more

Greetings all. It's just about time for take off. About one month and counting. That may seem like a long time for you, but M and I are a sure it will be a milli-second compared to the amount of time we have had to wait already. Anyhow, we are in full motion now and gaining speed. There so many more things we have had to think about / deal with then I had ever imagined. Just crazy business. So we have had a stressful summer here in Bozeman, MT... Lot's of traffic on the way to the river, never enough time to hike all those mountains, and that boss of ours is always puttin' on the pressure. Au Contraire. We've really been working hard on preparing ourselves for the upcoming stress-free, carefree lifesyle. Looking back ... read more

Hola amigos! Just hanging in sunny Seattle. First time here in the sunshine and it is absolutely amazing. Caught some fish yesterday here in Washington and did some drinking with Skyler last night and am paying for it this morning. Maresa and I made some more major purchase for the trip while in the big city. Just a few more months and tons of Spanish to learn. We are getting really excited. So far things have worked out in Bozeman, M and I have landed some jobs and are hoping to make some coin for our adventures. Lots of things to do in Bozeman, biking, climbing, and tons of hiking. Maresa and I have logged about 25 miles in a week or so. Just getting ready. Skyler and I are wakeboarding today on the lake and ... read more
