We spent one night in Strasbourg, and there happened to be a very colourful and loud parade of some sort going on through the streets. We watched them as they danced their way through the streets. Soon we lost interest and found ourselves browsing through the many cuckoo clock shops...we couldn't resist and some old French lady that couldn't speak a word of English somehow convinced us that we we absolutely NEEDED a Cuckoo clock, all wrapped and packed we proudly carried our new purchase around:) After that intense French/English Cuckoo purchase we were quite hungry and started a long search for a restaurant that offered a menu that we could understand... I LOVE Venice........ I could really just end this blog entry right there, but it will be a little unfair towards Venice, so I will try my best to paint a pretty word picture of this old romantic place with all it's mystique.. No..you can't drive your car to your hotel in Venice, not even to just quickly drop off your oversized suitcase and boot full of parcels, but you can however drive to Venice and leave your vehicle in a secure parking lot and then drag your bag over many bridges, steps and down many alleyways or alternatively pay a fee and let a bag carrier or bag taxi man cart your belongings to your hotel. Dubai Dubai Dooobuy I love going to the old souq, the fountains, the creek and of course the massive malls..have not yet been adventurous enough to brave the sand dunes by 4x4 or camel:) Dubai Fountain is the world’s largest musical fountain and the city’s most popular free tourist attraction. It is set on the Burj Khalifa Lake in Downtown Dubai, between the Dubai Mall, Souk Al Bahar, and the Burj Khalifa. The fountain consists of a 275 metre long central arc of jets, joined to a smaller arc and 5 circles of jets. Another pretty city, it's not as busy as New York and also not as big as New York but it still seems like a pretty cool city to visit. I loved the "Bean", a sttainless steel sculpture made up of 168 stainless steel plates welded together. It's sooooo shiny, I stare at it all day long! I figured it must be the city's bit of bling. We also went for a walk along the gorgeous waterfront, it has stunning views of the city and a massive fountain - Buckingham Fountain. it is 280ft in diameter and 25ft high, I read that it should be visited twice- once in day time and also at night. We went for a fast stroll, LoL along the 'magnificent mile' and managed to buy a thing or two.. Short and sweet... ... read more
