Leaving Sanibel we down through the Everglades down to Key West. What a Longgggg drive. I am amazed at all of the things I remember. The 7 mile bridge is still there, but so much better. It is a long drive down the Keys. We were at a great little B&B across the street from the Hemingway House and next the Lighthouse, plus one block off Duval, Lighthouse Court. Once there, we met up with my niece Stephanie. She has lived there for the last 10 years. The perfect tour guide. We headed over to Mallory Square for Tapas at at great little Cuban restaurant. Then we hung out for the Sunset Festival. Stephanie had to work that night, so we were on our own. Oh, oh! We started the bar crawl on Duval Street at ... read more

A whole week of laying on the beach on Sanibel Island. Heaven! We got up each morning, grabbed the beach chairs and umbrellas and headed to the beach. It was 85 degrees each day, with low humidity and a light breeze, PERFECT! The Surf temperature was 83 degrees and there are sand bars so you walk out really far in the water. We saw several sting rays, tarpon, and lots of sea birds. Two thirds of Sanibel Island is a nature reserve with over 200 different species of birds. Most nights we went out to dinner. I love Florida seafood. And No, there was no evidence of the oil spill, anywhere. One day we went to the Edison and Ford Summer Estate Museum. This was our only day inland, and it was very hot and very ... read more

Who says you can't go home? We flew into Miami Thursday night. We headed out Friday morning to visit my birthplace. We went by the house where we lived for a few years with my Grandmother following my parents divorce. My Mother was born and raised in the same house. Yes, it is till there, it looks very different, but it still made me feel so special. My Great Aunt also lived 2 houses down the street. Her house was still there too. We then went down the road to the elementary school, Coral Way Elementary. It is still a Bilingual Elementary School. We went in and tour the school. It is very beautiful. The entire school is built around an enormous courtyard with gigantic trees and gardens. As a student, we used to have assemblies ... read more

I apologize for the lack of postings. We really didn't do much sightseeing, the weather did not cooperate. We actually got to spend most of our time with Dana and Hansel and Baby Eli. The original plan was to visit a couple of hours each day to allow Dana and Eli to rest. But, we were actually able to spend most of the day with them. WE went over in the morning or afternoon. I got to hold Eli while he and Dana napped in the afternoon. Then I usually fixed dinner for everyone, or once in a while just for them. It was hard because we had Red back at the camper. Eventually we figured out that we could leave Red lose in the fifth wheel , instead of in his kennel. Then, he ... read more

Dana and Hansel welcomed a very healthy baby Boy last night. His name is Eli Larson and he weighed in at 10 lbs and 2.6 oz.. No wonder she was in labor for 28+ hours. Dana and Eli are both doing very well. We were able to visit before they went home from the Hospital. However, Ed and I are both fighting head cold and will have to stay away for a few days. Eli is wonderful and we couldn't be more thrilled!... read more

Our first week in Portland has been uneventful. We have found a great Restaurant and Bar nearby, Bumpers. We went there the night we got in for a couple of beers and ribs. The next night we took Dana and Hansel there because we wanted to take them out for a nice dinner before the baby came. As it turns out, we could have waited. Dana is now one week over due with no change. I have a head cold, so I have had to stay away for the last couple of days. I am just about over the cold. Hopefully it will be gone by the time the baby arrives. Lewis and Clark Park is close to here. It is a very large park that is an off leash park for dogs. It has ... read more

We spent the last week in Ashland. We originally were going to only spend a few days and get on to Portland. However, the grandbaby is not ready to join us yet. So, we decided to hang out in Ashland. It gave us more time to hang out with Patrick. We met with Patrick's college adviser and had dinner with his roommates. It was very cold and wet in Ashland. Every morning when I would take Red out for his walk there would be frost on the ground, fog and it would be about 30 degrees. Somedays there would be some sun in the afternoon. One night the propane tank ran out and the heater was pumping cold air. It was just plain COLD. We got to Portland this afternoon. Dana's due date was yesterday. ... read more

We arrived here Sunday. We are camped right on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The last couple of nights we spent visiting our dear friends Jack and Yolanda. It si always great to see them and see what new projects Jack has up his sleeves. Today we headed into San Fransisco for an entire day of sightseeing. It was a perfect day, perfect weather, not too cool and clear skies. It wasn't crowded which was nice. We have been to San Fransisco before and had seen most of the popular sights. So, I just wanted to ride around and see the neighborhoods .We rode the BART, electric bus, and cable cars. We went to Chinatown and the old Ferry Building. After being in China, Chinatown was just a smaller, newer version. The Ferry building has ... read more
