Rome is just more than I ever expected. Every street you walk into is just so nice. There is a certain ambiance and history to the city. We are staying in a caravan park just outside of Rome. We have a tent with bed and linen. Very nice. There is no commercialisation of the history of Rome. It is unchanged. We will soon pick up the hire car and head down south to Sorrento and Pompeii. The food in Italy is too good. I can feel the pounds piling on. The wine both red and asti ´s are great. A bottle of asti rico dona is only $5.60. Sifnos Europe » Greece By Di551June 27th 2007 Sifnos: I had read so much on this island and was so looking forward to this one out of all the islands. Sifnos has many great walking treks, but unfortunately, unless we left at 4am in the morning it was not possible. We found a great little cave with crystal clear water not far from our room and spent most on our day there hiding in the ... read more
Mykonos= We arrived here very very tired, having arrived at Athens Airport at midnight, where we slept on the floor and then caught the bus to Pireaus for the slow ferry to Mykonos. We were able to sleep on the ferry. It was raining when we arrived at Vienaoulos Garden Hotel. But the weather has cleared and now we are having clear near perfect days. Mykonos is very sterile, its so perfect, lots of jewellery shops. Full of rich Italians and Greeks wearing white and smoking. We hired a quadbike and made a tour of the island, this restored our faith in travel. It was a brillant day. Went to Shirley Valentine Beach. Having lots of lovely Greek food. Trying to go for a jog most days. Rob has discovered Tzaki dip. The wines are ... read more
