Rome is just more than I ever expected. Every street you walk into is just so nice. There is a certain ambiance and history to the city. We are staying in a caravan park just outside of Rome. We have a tent with bed and linen. Very nice. There is no commercialisation of the history of Rome. It is unchanged. We will soon pick up the hire car and head down south to Sorrento and Pompeii.

The food in Italy is too good. I can feel the pounds piling on. The wine both red and asti ´s are great. A bottle of asti rico dona is only $5.60. But there is no drunks around. people eat well and don´t get too indulged.

Sorrento;
We picked up the car and headed down south to Naples. We got very lost trying to find Sorrento. We ended up to far south and had to come back via the Amalfi Coast road. It is very beautiful, but very stressful trying to round the bends in a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side.

But we finally found the camp ground. Very nice. Right on the coast with a swimming hole. The resturant here is just the best. The pizza is to die for. We are staying here for 4 nights.

We went to Pompeii. It was very disappointing. It cost us $50 for the three to enter. But my memory of it from 20 years ago is so different. It is now barren with no models and hard for Lena to appreciate what happened in 89AD.

TUSCANY:
We drove up to Chianti on Greve and found the farm we are staying on. It is an old farm house that has been converted into apartments. It is situated in the most gorgeous valley of vineuyards and olive groves. During our stay we have made trips to Siena, Florence, Pisa and Vinci (this was the town Leonardo was born in)

We have stayed for 7 nights and leave for Spain.
