Hello again everyone!! Merry (belated) Christmas as well! Sorry about the lack of blog posts - the trip has been quite busy ever since the last post! Christmas was really hard to be away from home, so I decided to take my mind of things by jumping out of a plane...that worked pretty well. I certainly didn't feel homesick for a 5,000 meter 30 second free-fall!! We all went out for a really nice lunch after that and then Brittney and I went for a walk along the beach. On the 23rd, we spent the day sandboarding, then a few hours at a hospital, when Brittney broke her wrist (cool little fact -- we were at the hospital where Angelina Jolie had her baby!!! - Shiloh for all of you celebrity gossip loving people), and then ... read more

Hello again! It is now the afternoon of December 22nd and we have arrived in Swakopmund, which is where we will be until the 26th. The last few days have been pretty uneventful, as we have spent most of our time driving into Namibia. Swakopmund is awesome so far! I really like it. It is most German speaking, and looks like the biggest and most modern town we have been in yet. It also looks like there are some great Seafood places here, which is pretty exciting! We spent one of our nights at bush camp decorating the truck, so we are now an enormous yellow truck driving around with tinsel hanging everywhere from it - we don't stand out at ALL! Because of the decorations, and being in a bigger city where people are Xmas ... read more

Hello again Everyone! Thank you very very much for the birthday wishes! It is about 10:00 am here on the 15th and it made my day to hear from you all! I am really sad about missing the Wilker Xmas and glad to hear it went well! Thanks for the message Lori! Please tell everyone I say hello and thanks for the birthday wishes!!! I am also happy to report my foot is definitely on the mend and my nerves have calmed since bungee jumping! Victoria falls was amazing! Definitely a highlight of the trip! We are now in Botswana which is (painfully) hot! We spend the last 2 days camping in the middle of the Okavango Delta which was really amazing. Although we didn't see too much game on our bush walks the "mokoro" rides ... read more

Hello again!! It has been a very action packed few days since the last blog entry. The night encounter didn go so well...because of all of the heavy rains, we spent basically 2 hours getting stuck in the mud and trying to get the vechicles out and MAYBE an hour of watching the lions stalk and hunt. They didn even come close to catching anything, so that was a little disappointing... We left Antelope park 2 days later and went to Bulawayo. This place was really cool. Brittney and I decided to treat ourselves to a little upgrade ($4 a night to sleep inside, in a bed rather than in a tent!) The first day we got there in the after noon and just hung out. The next day was absolutely amazing! We did a "rhino ... read more

Hello again, Sorry about that last message, I had typed the entire thing and when I went to publish the entry, the internet messed up and I assumed the blog entry was lost. I guess this website saved it automatically, so therefore there will be two updates entered today! The last two days here at Antelope park have been wicked! We started yesterday morning bright and early with the elephant training! It was pretty cool, but still felt a little weird - like a circus. I think I prefer seeing them out in the wild. But we got to sit on their legs and feed them, and then sit on top of them while they stood up. It was really neat. After the elephants, we were supposed to have "cub feeding" but it poured rain all ... read more

Hello again! This will have to be a very quick entry - its almost dinner time here, and if I doddle - dinner will be gone before I get any! Dad thanks for the info on the parasite! I'm glad to hear your home safe and sound! I have already bought the drugs for that parasite - which only set me back about 3$ US - not too bad. Aunt Sharon - thanks for writing! So nice to hear from you! I will be thinking about all of you ALL day on December 12th and wishing I could be there!! Dennis - your messages always make me laugh! Keep them coming! I hadn't heard about Sallinger, that's awful, but it sounded in your message like the recovery was coming along so thats good! I'm also super ... read more

Hello again, Unfortunately this will be a pretty uneventful blog update... The last time I wrote was 'pig day' so I will update from there: Pig day was acutally really fun! It took almost 7 hours for the pig to cook, but everyone took turns keeping an eye on it (except for those not eating any). For us, we still had a pretty great dinner, some coleslaw, roasted potatoes, salad and mango chutney and apple sauce. I really enjoyed it! After dinner we basically just had a few drinks, and the night ended with a few people dancing on the bar. However, this was at about 9:30 pm (and I promise I WASNT involved!) and the night was pretty much over by midnight - 1:00 am. It started to pour rain in the middle of the ... read more

Africa » Malawi » Lake Malawi » Kandi Beach November 23rd 2009

Hello again! We are now at Kande Beach in Malawi (which acutally has nothing to do with Candy, much to my dissapointment). Chitimba Beach was really fun! I really enjoyed myself there! It really doesn't hurt to be spending my days on a beach at all... The afternoon after I posted last, was pretty uneventful....until...one of the guys on the trip (Ivan) is really into hypnotism, and he was attempting to hypnotize Michelle, but she got a little freaked out and stopped. So I asked him if he could try to hypnotize me, since I have never been, and wasn't really sure if it was real or not. So it turned into basically the entertainment for the group for the afternoon! It was so strange, apparently it went on for about an hour and a half. ... read more

Hello again everyone… I just typed this entire blog entry, and clicked “publish” and the internet messed up. So this is take number 2, and hopefully it works! Sorry the blog wont be as detailed as it was, because I am running out of time. Anyways, I will update from where I left last…Zanzibar overall was amazing! I am convinced it is the most beautiful place in the world! My last day in Zanzibar I decided to do another of the optional excursions which was a Spice Tour (Zanzibar is known for its spices). We left the beach bungalows at 9:00 am and had about a 45 minute drive to the Spice farm. We arrived and by 10 am it was already disgustingly hot (not to mention I wasn’t feeling 100% top-notch after the sunset (booze)cruise ... read more

Hello Again! Sorry about the delay in updating....internet is not quite as accesible these days! Everything is going great! Especially now that we are at Zanzibar island, which is absolutley paradise! The water is so clear and the sand is literally white. It's great weather as well! But I'll go back to our trip to the Ngorongoro crater and the Serengeti first... We woke up nice and early for our big game drive day. We took out tent down in the dark and had some breakfast and were on the road...it was about an hour drive up the the crater, which was absolutley awful for me, because I've developed a cough (yes...THAT cough)... pretty much ever since the camping has started, and with the cough came a gross disgusting full head, so therefore my ears were ... read more
