We got up while Jenn was taking Malena to school…also because Jake woke me up to eat! It was time to shuffle the contents of our luggage to make sure none of the bags are overweight and find places for our newly acquired treasures! Since our flight is bright and early tomorrow morning, leaving at 7:15am, we wanted to stay close to the airport, so we booked a hotel for our final evening in Barcelona. Jenn printed us directions to our hotel and we were able to navigate our way there without getting lost! We headed back into Barcelona for our last dinner. Brian wanted to have paella at a recommended restaurant called Can Majo. Jenn also printed us the directions to and from the restaurant...it was a little tricky finding the restaurant by car, so ... read more

We decided to take it easy today. We leisurely woke up and putzed around the house before heading to into town. We followed Jenn through the maze of Valldoreix into Sant Cugat, we couldn’t travel in the same car because we had 3 adults and 3 car seats to deal with! Neither of our cars could fit all those people! We walked along one of Sant Cugat’s main shopping streets. There were many toy stores, café’s, and other clothing stores. My mission was to find Jake some cute toys that we couldn’t get at home. We went to one of Jenn’s favorite toy stores with many different European toys. They had a brand called Lilliputiens from Belgium which I fell in love with. We got Jake a new dragon “lovey” (for those of you who aren’t ... read more

We got up and it was a beautiful day, the sun was out and blue skies as far as the eye could see. We ate our complementary breakfast in the hotel then headed to the beach. After a couple hours of basking in the sun and watching Brian, Malena, & Lautauro swim in the cove, we had to head back to the hotel check out of the hotel. Now we could see some clouds in the distance making their way in. This made Diego feel better about having to leave this beautiful beach town to head back home! We packed all our bags into the cars and headed into town to shop, check out the castle and eat lunch before we drove back to Jenn’s house in Valldoreix. Jenn lives in Valldoreix, a suburb to Sant ... read more

The Lo Prete's arrived at around 1pm and we walked down the beachfront and found a little "snack bar"/pizzeria. We all had lunch before heading back to our hotel to go to the beach! While heading to lunch we noticed a lot of bikers appearing to be getting ready for a race. We kept walking and figured it was a triathalon. We thought it was a little late in the day to be starting a race and figured the race must be tomorrow. We sat at our restaurant and watched them start the swim at 3pm in the afternoon! At home these kind of races start 1st thing in the morning! We had lunch at the "Snack Bar / Pizzeria" and had our pizzas, pasta's, jamon, and pan de tomate, etc. and headed back for our ... read more

So we have our entire life packed back up in our 9+ bags and Brian is walking to the National car rental office to pick up our rental car. I asked Brian if he'd ever driven in a foreign country...he said, "Yes, I drove a scooter in Vietnam", um yeah I don't think that counts! Jenn highly recommended getting the GPS, because it is very hard to get around, especially in the area she lives in. The houses are in a neighborhood where every house has a little wall around it. Every street looks the same and the streets are poorly labeled. So he gets the car and tells me that there are no more GPS units, she said everybody wants the GPS and they ran out. Uh oh...I am thinking how screwed we are, Brian ... read more

Monteserrat was not worth the journey it took to get there and back, it took all day! We had to transfer metro stations, had to buy an expensive 22.5 package for the train and funiculars to the top of the mountain. We got off the train at the 1st Monteserrat stop to find out that that was only for the tram...we pre-paid for the funicular which was the next stop. OK no problem right....WRONG...the trains only come once every hour! So we waited. Only 15-20 people made the same mistake as we did...about half of them paid for the tram even though they also pre-paid for the funicuar. Rip-off....I think they are in cahootz! We saw the monastery, it was nothing special. The hanging monastery in Datong, China was MUCH more impressive!!! I took a few ... read more

This morning we woke up somewhat earlier than usual, 8:00am, to meet Jenn and her son Lautaro at La Boqueria. This food market is right off La Rambla and has many stalls of fruit, meats, cheeses, candy, seafood, etc. Notable items...suckling pig and pig head...and a skinned land head with eyeballs intact. YUCKO! All I can say as the photos don't do the fruits justice...beautiful! **see photos** After the market we had to sit down at a cafe and feed Jake, so we bought some juices and coffee and Lauti had a "bikini", a grilled ham and cheese! Jenn thinks they call it a bikini because when they cut it in half diagonally it looks like the triangle bottom of a bikini?!?! After the market and a snack/chat with Jenn, she had to leave to pick-up ... read more

So today we are going to be prepared! We went to El Corte Ingles and bought a universal stroller rain cover to keep Jake dry. We knew if we bought it we probably wouldn't need it, but we were willing to buy good weather for 16 euros! We hopped on our bus with the intention of only stopping at Park Gruell, a park designed by Gaudi. We hadn't eaten breakfast yet, so we decided to get off at the hospital stop to find a restaurant Brian was recommended. We didn't know the address, but Brian remembered it was really close ti the hospital. So we decided to walk a couple blocks to see if we could find it. No luck....so we called Jenn to give us the address. She gave it to us, and we realized ... read more

We now have our own stroller and decided to do the hop on hop off tour...yes we should have done this the day our stroller was lost. We walked to the Placa Catalunya to buy our tickets and board the bus. As we were at the ticket counter I pointed the very black rain clouds up above. We shrugged it off the proceeded to the top of the double decker convertible bus. We got off at the 1st stop, the Barri Gotic or Gothic Church. As we stepped off the bus the rain began to come down on us...sprinkling at first. We took cover under an office buildings overhang. Then it started to rain, and the second that happened there were magically men selling cheap crappy umbrellas EVERYWHERE for 5 euro. Brian bought one for me ... read more

We woke up at 10:30am...I think...Now that I am updating the blog from 3 days ago, it gets a little fuzzy! We found out that our stroller had STILL not arrived and was far from happy with this information!!! We were told by the airlines that we could purchase a new stroller up to 200 euros...with it being Sunday, EVERYTHING is closed all day!!! I was about to throw an absolute temper tantrum when we decided to look into renting one for the day. It was 29 euros a day to rent a little umbrella stroller and will worth it...I intend on being reimbursed from British Airways!!! Bright and early Monday am, I had it all planned to go purchase a new stroller...of course the stroller was delivered that evening with the 9:30pm drop off. No ... read more
