I must admit, I love Prague! This is the first city, anywhere, that I have gotten what I was truely expecting, the Old Town, the cobbelstone streets, I love it! The train station on the other hand, is a complete and utter nightmare! its like another world, as soon as you get into the main station people are trying to sell you accomodation, trying to find your way out is a nightmare and the "official" taxis are soo not official, its a private car and you do get ripped off BIG TIME! First hand knowledge of this so be warned people! Terezin- a small town an hour or so out of Prague which was turned into a Jewish Ghetto during World War 2, the town is still a ghost town, it was so deadly quiet which ... read more

Brad and Cal.. Did we leave him in Dublin?? Such importance in Dublin and then we just forgot him.. Hmm.. Dont know why I randomly thought of that, but I did.... ANYWAY Im now in Prague and Eastern Europe, and let me tell you, you definantely knew when you crossed the border.. At the German/Czech border the train stopped for at least 20minutes as the German conductors and drivers got off and the Czech ones, along with armed guards came on!! They then did a passport check in the presence of these guards, a little bit freaky let me tell you!! Prague's main train station... OH MY GOD.. is all I can really say.. Its a total nightmare, its like another world.. and OH MY GOD.. People trying to sell you hotels, taxi drivers who you ... read more

What better way to describe this beautiful place, also where the Sound of Music was filmed so the explanation is perfect... And what better way to start a visit in Salzberg than to go on a sound of music tour!! This was awesome! It was four hours of film locations and the wonderful music from the movie.. The scenary was fantastic as well, so even Dan enjoyed it, definately worth taking the tour because if nothing else the hills are alive! Found out some interesting facts about the movie as well.. Like the hill that they cross right at the end of the film.. Half that mountain is in Austria, the other half in Germany! it doesnt lead to the Swiss Alps.. Kinda defeats the purpose of running from the Nazis hey hehe.. This wonderful tour ... read more

The Munchies in Munchen.. Thats what we have dubbed ourselves, myself, Dan, Brad and Cal.. Go the Munchies in munchen! I was the first to arrive, followed by Dan and while we waited for the boys to arrive we took a city sightseeing tour bus.. Always good, always provides lots of interesting sights to go back too.. After picking Brad and Cal up at the train station with extremely cute little signs (which you better still both have btw!) and a German greeting we walked down to Marianplatz.. the main part of town here, beer halls everywhere with masks (not steins!), Cal had one and we later found out he was drinking apple juice! Go apple juice though!! The two hour train trip out of Neuschwanstein castle provided an extremely long, uphill walk to get to ... read more

Well today was spent on a day tour going to Ghent and Brugge, thankfully the weather had improved and lasted throughout most of the day, only got wet on the way back to the hotel and after yesterdays torrential downpour that is definately something to be thankful for.. First stop Ghent, about an hours drive from Brussels, nice enough little town, some stunning architecture, cant really say there was much to report about this place as we only spent 45mins in in but still good to get out and see other parts of Belgium.. Next stop was Brugge, this is a place I definately wanted to see after hearing about it, almost as much as Switerland from 2 boys who shall remain nameless ;P, again nice enough little town, but why all the hype boys?? Now I knew this was the case before I left home.. But now they are even striking me in Europe! What did I do to deserve this?! haha.. I finally went to a restaurant that had hot waiters, and oh yes, one was definately flirting with me, offered himself as dessert (hehe) AND left me a little note on the bill... The night before I left Rome.. Where is the fairness in that?! haha been whinging this whole time about unwanted attention and now I finally get wanted attention and its the day before I leave.. So not fair!! DAmm why didnt I go into that restaurant on my first night?! Why cant I catch a break in this department?? Ok now back to the travelling, considering this is my TRAVEL blog hehe.. Arrived in Brussels ... read more

Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome June 12th 2007

Well the last two days has been spent seeing the sights of Rome and getting a lovely, much needed tan, tell you what, if the weather is like this everywhere for the next 5weeks Im coming back so brown! Into the middle of an Australian winter! Yay!! Everyone will be white (except maybe Emma, McSpads and Amanda A) and I'll be nice and brown!!!! So my first sight, and the main sight I wanted to see here in Rome was the Fontana del Tritone, a beautiful foundation and its said that if you throw a coin in backwards over your shoulder that your wish will come true.. Now Im still waiting on my wish from Blarney Castle and the Roman Baths in Bath to come true so this time I made a very specific wish! With ... read more

hehe had to ask cos when I was in Paris, you were in Paris, when I was in Rome, you are in Rome! hehe.. and no, rooming with you 2 wasnt too bad, much better than Cal anyway hehe (KIDDING) and this is a really annoying keyboard but anyway.. The flight to Rome was rather uneventful except for when I checked in in Paris I got caught by the apparent 20kg weight limit.. Nothing on any of my documents says that this is the weight limit so ARGH!! I have 2 more flights with this airline too within Europe so am going to have to do a major overhaul of everything in my suitcase.. Not fun! So here I am in Rome and I must say my introduction to the city put me slightly off although ... read more

You just cant get away from the crowds of people when you're visiting popular tourist stops.. Unfortunately you gotta take one with the other.. And unfortunately overly busy places can definately take away some of the enjoyment of the place you're experiecing.. Woke up yesterday morning with a cold! Yay! Although am pretty impressed, it took over 3months and god knows how many changes in climate, as well as being around sick boys (twice!) before it finally hit me, and its just a stuffed nose and that heady feeling you get when ur sick you know, so Im sure it'll pass... Although I've finally worked out how to keep the maids out!! There is no "do not disturb" signs in this hotel and the maids kept coming in at like 8am to clean the room!! Now ... read more

I had one main thing that I absolutely had to do when coming to Paris, and that was to go to Disneyland! I've been to the one in the US about 10years ago so I wanted to go to Paris Disney to see how it compares and whether the magic is still the same when you're 20 compared to when you're 12.. And I must say, walking through the front gates in MainTown Disney.. The magic is the same, the rides dont have the same appeal but the feeling to the whole place is still magical, although its definately one time I wish I had someone to share it besides Bonnie (the little me to u bear attached to my bag, not one word Callum :P). walking around Disney, despite the crowds of people, I can ... read more
