Well the last two days has been spent seeing the sights of Rome and getting a lovely, much needed tan, tell you what, if the weather is like this everywhere for the next 5weeks Im coming back so brown! Into the middle of an Australian winter! Yay!! Everyone will be white (except maybe Emma, McSpads and Amanda A) and I'll be nice and brown!!!!
So my first sight, and the main sight I wanted to see here in Rome was the Fontana del Tritone, a beautiful foundation and its said that if you throw a coin in backwards over your shoulder that your wish will come true.. Now Im still waiting on my wish from Blarney Castle and the Roman Baths in Bath to come true so this time I made a very specific wish! With a time frame!! hehe... Watch this space.... Was asked by the chick in a souvenir store as to the meaning of the Fray's song "how to save a life".. now Ive listened to this song a million times, love it! Was singing to it in her shop hence why she asked me but to say what he actually means by it.. I dont know..
Fontana del Tritone
I see slight muscle definition in my arm here.... Also got asked if I was South African.. Thats a new one.. Usually get American or English..
Afterwards I caught the metro to the Piazza del Popolo where I somehow got completely lost out of the metro when in reality the Piazza was right behind me as I emerged from the steps! Go me! Luckily a nice Italian man offered to help me, lucky for me it was his lunch break and he had to go back to work otherwise I probably would have gotten stuck with him for the rest of the day!! hehe.. these Italians are just too nice for my liking! It freaks me out!! Men being too nice... hehe.. Also the fact that he kept telling me I was cute.. Not cool! I dont like compliments from randoms!! haha...
Today I ventured out to the Vatican, catch the metro, walk, walk up a few steps then decide whether you want to turn right or left, map no help as you're technically off the map.. Michelle decides to go right.. And promptly walks for half an hour, up hills, down steps in the blistering sun when if she'd only gone left, she would have been
at the foot on the Musei Vatican within 10mins.. Typically, so by the route I took I eventually ended up at Piazza san Pietro, the entrance to the Vatican.. Went to go through to the Vatican city.. Only problem, no one told me you couldnt wear shorts! So I didnt get to go through to the city, instead just wandered the grounds, finding 2 post offices! The only 2 I've found in all of Rome! FInally decided to come back to my hotel and put some pants on, only to decide once I got back that my airconditioned room was much more comfortable and I would not be moving! hehe was getting late anyway and I still had to pack for my flight to Brussels tomorrow as well as updating my lovely blog...
Rome, an interesting city to say the least, only place I've been to where you have to provide ID in an internet cafe, they actually ask you to write down your passport number! I wonder how many people actually provide the right number cos I certainly didnt! Waiters in this place are definately very friendly, pulling the piss out of diners, which is quite amusing and
all done in good fun or asking you back later for a glass to wine.. Hmmm had to decline this one hehe...
