Day 127, 16/01/12 Went to the cinema at lunch time to see The Iron Lady and it was fairly good. Went on to Freemantle to have a look around the markets but they were closed so went to get a Subway and then back to the house. Jumped in the shower and did my final packing before being dropped off at Perth International Airport. Bought some Duty free and then boarded my Emirates plane leaving at 10:30pm bound for London Heathrow (via Dubai). Of course the only people I told I was coming home were my Mum and Dad so I could be picked up from the airport. Everyone else was in for a shock and I was very proud of myself for keeping it a secret since the flight was booked on the 15th December. ... read more

Day 125, 14/01/12 Arrived in Perth at just gone 9am. Stuart has a friend living in Perth and they were very kind and let us stay at their house, was very nice to get a slice of the real Aussie life style - they even bought us lunch! Went for a drive around fremantle and then went to a classic car show in the evening - I wasn't too keen on going but felt I had to and it was $42 a ticket!! You should never judge a book by its cover because I really enjoyed it and, because his cousins car was in the competition, we got a spin in the car around the track. Was brilliant to have all the spectators watching me :) It was great fun and very interesting, especially the burnout ... read more

Day 123, 12/01/12 Hired a free bike today and cycled along Adelaide river and then turned around and cycled the other way to the beach and back to the town. Had a walk around The Botanical Gardens. Got on the train in the evening and Stuart treated us both to the upgrade to a cabin with 2 beds in it. Played cards, ate dinner, read my book and chatted before going to sleep on a moving train. The train is due to arrive in Perth on Saturday morning (14th) - so a very long journey. As we left Adelaide we were getting further and further into the outback through all the farms before hitting the true Australian outback. Day 124, 13/01/12 Had a shower on the moving train which was an experience. Saw lots of nothing ... read more

Day 121, 10/01/12 Hired bikes for the afternoon for $20 which gaves us 5 hours. We went to the Telegraph Station where Alice Springs originated from which was quite interesting and then out to the 'Welcome to Alice Springs' sign which is oddly a way out of town but was cool to see. Didn't do much in the evening apart from packed for our flight back to Adelaide tomorrow. Day 122, 11/01/12 Flew to Adelaide and packed for our 41 hour train ride to Perth tomorrow. Probably the simplest day I have had since arriving in Australia... read more

Day 120, 09/01/12 Up at 4:15am!! It was still dark but it was worth it as we watched the sunrise over Uluru whilst eating our breakfast. We did the Base walk which was pretty long and we did get a bit wet because of the rain but it soon cleared up and we were fine. The Base walk is basically a walk around the whole rock and is about 7km's which is strange because the whole perimiter of the rock is about 9.5kms and it is 350m high (I told you it was huge) but the walk was really nice and you really don't realise how big the rock is until you walk around it. We learnt a few more little stories and some parts of the rock you are not allowed to photograph because it ... read more

Day 119, 08/01/12 Up at 5:30am and took a drive to Kata Tjuta, we did a walk around the rocks and learned all the history again, both scientific and aboriginal. Then we went to Uluru which was just amazing, that is one big rock. Got lots of photos and did a small walk called the Mala walk learning about the Aboriginal stories around the rock. We watched the sunset over the rock and had a better camp ground tonight with showers, toilets and lights! We had a great laugh in the evening playing a card game called spoons, we also played snap. I don't know why but for some reason they were just hilarious and we all had a fun night over some beers. Because there was a lot of ants, flys, mossies, big black bugs ... read more

Day 118, 07/01/12 Got picked up at 6am and off we went to Kings Canyon. A long drive and we arrived about 12noon and did a lovely walk around the top and stopped off for a swim half way around in a small waterhole, as it was a warm day I jumped in. We learnt a lot of the history about the Canyon including the Aboriginal stories and the scientific/evolution facts. The whole tour is in the middle of knowhere and you barely seen any cars on the one long road, just desert and shrubs for miles and miles on end - so guess where we slept that night? In a tiny opening about 1km away from the main road in the land with a tiny corrugated shelter and a space for a fire. You sleep ... read more

Day 116, 05/01/12 Leaving Melbourne tonight so had to check out at 10am but then had to hang around until 8:15 when my Greyhound bus to Adelaide was. Did a bit of wandering and bought a torch as I figured I'd need one for the Uluru tour. Hannah and Jamie needed a new camera so I went with them for something to do, other than that we just chilled and chatted and drank tea and ate etc. Said my goodbyes and off I went on my last Tram ride to the Bus station. It was sad to be leaving Melbourne as I have been there almost 2 months and it felt like my new little home but at the same time I'm glad I left as we were running out of things to do. Day 117, ... read more

Day 115, 04/01/12 Last full day in Melbourne today and we have completely worn this city out. Had to do some washing and then started to pack my bag ready to check out at 10am tomorrow, even though my bus doesn't leave until 8:15 in the evening. We rented the film Unstoppable and watched in on Hannah and Jamies portable DVD player and before we knew it, it was evening and time to get some sleep. I finished Susan Boyles autobiography tonight too.... read more

Day 113, 02/01/12 Today the temperate hit 39 degrees and it was hot! I slapped on the suncream and a hat and went to sunbath on a bench in Alexandra Gardens. It was so warm that when the wind blew it felt like someone was blowing a hairdryer in your face. I have never been in a heat as hot as what it was today in my life. Still...I caught a bit of the sun which is nice. In the evening we did the quiz for the last time in Melbourne. Day 114, 03/01/12 The temperature was nice a cool today, a chilly 32 degrees, it was fairly cloudy but the sun still shone through. Took my book again to Albert Park and then had a walk around the lake again with my iPod in whilst ... read more
