On our way to Bolivia with the 6Irish Una, Eileen, Purcell, John, Fiona and Ian all from waterford we stopped off at Copacabana for a couple nights!! Its a little village off Lake Titticaca. Her we wento off to an island to see the Inca Ruins and to see the floating islands which people live on!! These island are man made and the people who live on them have to move every so often for when the water level rises and fall in order not to get caught in the ground below!! Quite amazing! We decided to get a bus from Lima to the north of Peru to Chiclayo and trujillo but then changed our mind and so decided to go straight to Cusco. Bit of a waisted journey but we did get to see the countryside and so we bumped into a few irish on the bus!! 6irish to be exact and they ended up booking in to the same hostel as us! After getting back from the jungle we decided to hang around Quito for a night and then catch the flight from Quito to Medellion on the 6th!!! We stayed in Medellion for 1 night in Black Sheep hostel which was really nice and so we sat down to watch Anchorman and The kite Runner. So on the way to the Tour Agents with Collie and Darlene we decided to look up trips into the jungle. We saw a trip to the Cuyobeno Reserve for 4nights/5days. It only cost 240 dollars which we thought was a bargain as it included meals, accommodation and your tours each day. Off we went paying for it and again we decided to change our mind and go to columbia on a flight. So we are talkin with collie and Darlene and they wanna go to Columbia and they said that the diving course is really cheap in columbia so they convince us to go there! Not that we needed much convincing we did want to do the course so we have it for NZ and Australia!! Went here with Collie nd Darlene, wanted to do the Nasca Lines fly over but was talkin to a couple people in the Hostel nd they said that the airplane was too small and the flight was v jumpy and well get sick everywhere so we decided to give it a miss and go drinking all day instead. The hostel had a swimming pool so we just drink poolside nd got woken up early in the morning by the roosters across the road! There were about 20 of them and they woke us up both mornings at 6!! We went here with Collie and Darlene and ended up staying for 9days! Stayed in Backpackers Hostel which was overlooking the beach!! Surfers beach aswell, waves were massive!!! I got battered a couple times by the waves when i got stuck under a wave and it ended up smashing me against the sand and i got a bruised chin nd jaw!! Was afraid after that!! We were there for Darlenes bday and the place was full of surfers so the party was class!! Met a lovely couple called Dave and Linda!! Wine Wine and more Wine!!! Stayed in Hostal Independencia and this city was one of the nicest Ive seen. Lots of plazas and places to drink Wine!! Activities; Did the wine tour on the last day here!! Me and Sorcha ended up gettin lost on the bikes while we were bonkers!! Ended up 2 towns over and had to cycle for an hour to get back!! Sorcha started freaking out but i didnt give a bollix cos we were bonkers. Bought a bottle of wine for 20euro and we are keepin it til we get home!! Bottle No.436, hope its nice!!! [View Full Entry]
