WOW stunning this was my first real up close adventure of a canal medieval township built in the 12th to 14thCentury. All that history is visible to the eye. It was kind of weird to be in awe of a town square that once held public beheadings….. Bruges is stunning township, with canals, cobbled streets, medieval buildings, people of all ages riding push bikes in place of car. I was amazed by one building which is call the Belfry it’s within the town square which in Europe s named Markt square. This Belfry was built in the late 12th century and is 83 mtrs in height ! I discovered a Belfry is a tower that was build to house Bells for the township clock, this one hoses 47 Bells which sounds amazing at each ¼ of ... read more

England in 6 days. Accommodation : - Number 63 a Bed and Breakfast across from Hyde Park, 50mtrs from The Swan a traditional London Pub, 300 mtrs from Tube station, a 10 min walk to Notting Hill. A perfect location for us. Rooms small yet big enough for what we needed, heating worked a treat, double glazed windows so no traffic noise. Breakfast Yummy lots to choose from. Price was on the expensive side yet now I’ve seen London I would not hesitate to stay there again. WOW what can one see and do with only 6 days in England. We managed to see all the sights, Big Ben, Westminster Abby, Palaces, Southbank, London Eye, Royal Albert Hall, parks and so on. As we went in Winter, we had less day light then travelling in summer, ... read more

25 Day Europe Christmas 2016 Tour. It all began earlier this year when Mum said she would like to see London Markets and Christmas Tour. I’ve always wanted to see Europe, I love every thing Europe. I really wanted to go however I was not sure it took me 5 mths to decide to go. Mum and I looked at many tours there are loads, we decided to book with Go Ahead tours an American based company who for us had the best tour meeting our requirements. http://www.goaheadtours.com/ The jury is out on the company will wait to make final judgement at the conclusion of the trip. So far their communication has been rather poor. We are flying Emirates, never used them before and WOW they are blowing me away, with the additional services they offer. ... read more

Hi all Just letting you know we are home safe. We were in LA the last few days. On the 4th we met up with Cary and went to Santa Monica Bvld and Venice Beach. We also visited Hollywood Blvd, went to a concert for the 4th of July celebrations and saw some fireworks after the show. The next two days Corinne did some shopping and we also visited the La Brea tar pits before catching our 11.20pm flight back home. Thanks for comments and support while we were away. As usual click on the images to get a bigger version. Cheers and signing off from this adventure. Brett and Corinne ... read more

The Alaska part of our trip is now over and we are back in LA. Basically we went to four main areas: Prudhoe Bay, Denali NP, Prince William Sound and Katmai NP Prudhoe Bay lies at the very top of Alaska and is bordered by the Arctic Ocean. There is an extensive oil field area here stretching over 100 miles. All supplies have to be trucked in along a gravel road known as the Haul Road (Dalton Hwy). There are literally thousands of workers up there living in prefab buildings, it is like an industrial estate, all buildings are constructed on gravel pads so they don’t get soggy in the spring when the ice and snow start to melt. The other big thing is the light. The sun doesn’t set for several months during summer. You ... read more

Pretty big update this one, so plenty of images. Since last update we had more ordinary weather as we headed south through the Redwood forests. These forests are special as they are the last remnants of old growth Redwood forest in the world. These are the tallest trees on earth reaching up to 380 feet. Our next big stop was San Francisco, getting the bus into town we went over the Golden Gate Bridge. Finally the weather had improved a bit but the wind was quite cool. During the next couple of days we visited Alcatraz Island and walked a lot around the city and harbour getting the ferry back to our RV park each evening. One arvo/evening we drove up to the headlands for a view of the golden Gate bridge at night, very cool ... read more

Since our last update we have moved through Bryce Canyon Zion Canyon Then back into California for Sequoia NP Kings Canyon NP Yosemite NP and drove northward to Klamath and the Redwood forests not far from the Oregon border. Through much of the last week and a half the weather has been poor, hasn’t rained every day but been pretty dull and overcast and cold and there hasn’t been many visible sunsets or sunrises and this has impacted on the photography. They are all beautiful places worthy of seeing, we just didn’t get to see them at their best. The landscapes of Bryce and Zion are amazing. Rocky spires formed by erosion and steep canyon walls. Back in California the thickly wooded slopes of Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite are a world away from the dry ... read more

Okay, we have had requests for more updates and more photos so here is the next chapter. Like Australia the distances here are pretty large so it does take time to get around especially in a Motorhome. As we move to the next location it can take half the day to get there. After Monument Valley we headed westwards to Page. In the arvo we headed to Horseshoe Bend, we hiked to the river, it is pretty impressive the way the river bends and it is a long way down. I had to wait an hour till after sunset to get the shot, my new 14-24 lens came in handy here. To get the shot you have to be right on the edge and I must say the heart was beating a bit faster while I ... read more

Hi all We had a pretty smooth flight but no sleep and made it safely to LA and got through the admin stuff pretty well at the airport. We cabbed to the Motorhome place and had to sort a few issues there before we were on our way. Glad I knew what I had booked and paid for because they didn’t seem to. Driving out of LA was a bit challenging, the GPS was flat and wasn’t charging, the motorhome is kind of big with side mirrors that stick way out and of course I had to drive on the wrong side of the road and sit on the wrong side of the vehicle. Corinne did well with the paper map we had and we navigated successfully to Vegas 5hrs later. We eventually found our RV ... read more
