So........ I am writing this with a tear in my eye, as most of you now know Han and I are back in Blighty :o( Its an end of an era, no responsibilities and behaving wholly inappropriately on a daily basis. But lets not get too depressed as I need to fill you in on our last 2 weeks of the world tour ("yay!" I hear you cry!!) Vegas, Vegas, Vegas. So after a gruelling 8 hour bus trip from SD we get to LV. The drive wasn’t particularly interesting, unless baron deserts, trailer parks and rocky hills are your thing. Again, the usual non-human, sub-society American dregs were on the Greyhound bus. One exclaiming "I didn't know the airport was right on the strip!?" What he was actually referring to was the Hotel Stratosphere Tower. ... read more

Evening people and greetings from our 7th Country and last stop til home :o( So we landed in LA on the 9th May..... LAX has to be the WORST airport we have ever experienced! Han and I thought it would be super modern, spacious and clean but it was so dated and disorganised, it took us 2 hours from getting off the plane to finally exiting the building!! So our hostel was in West Hollywood, and to be honest it was a bit ropey- but a great location on Melrose Avenue with stupidly good restaurants and shopping, oh to tease a poor backpacker. So Han and I were experiencing our first 36 hour Saturday! But we got quite a lot of sleep on the plane so were'nt feeling too ropey so decided to have a night ... read more

Hello once again lovely people. So the next installment is our 8 days in beautiful Fiji! Fiji is a 2 hour 40 mins flight from Auckland. The minute we arrived at the airport we knew we were in for a treat as everyone was so happy, we were serenaded by a Fijian band, everyone wears flowers in their hair, the men even wear skirts and they all just seem so joyous!!! We flew into the capital of Fiji on the main island; Nadi (prenounced Nandi). When we were driving round the streets for the first time, we felt like we were really travelling again- Fiji has a real Carribbean vibe about it, the music, the food, the people etc, it was really exciting to be in a country where English isn't the first language (although widely ... read more

Kia Ora! Welcome to gorgeous New Zealand, Han and I have now been here for 3 weeks and it's just so breath-taking! We arrived in Christchurch on the South Island on the 8th April, and immediately we felt at home, this place is just so like England! The weather, scenery and Christchurch itself is so very English. C'church is the largest city in the South Island (home to 400,000 of the 1m residents on the island) and is where the English settlers first settled in New Zealand. The whole city is centered around Christchurch Cathedral, all the names of the streets are named things like St Albans, Manchester Street, Canterbury Street etc Its all very quaint and very English- you can even go punting on the River Avon! Han and I got there just before Easter ... read more

And so the end is near, the final curtain......... So I have to fill you in on our last 2 weeks in Australia! I believe last time we spoke Han and I had just made it to Surfers Paradise. Surfers Paradise was like nothing in Australia we had ever been to. The name of the place kinda gives it away...... it is where a lot of the Aussie Pro-Surfers live, as the surf is just unbelievable and the beaches are so golden and just never ending. It kinda looks like a mirage, as you travel through the QLD country side and then you just hit all these sky scrapers, right out of nowhere; Surfers Paradise is home to the Q1 Tower which is the tallest residential building in the Southern Hemisphere. It did remind us a ... read more

Morning Campers!! So yes, we did finally manage to get on Fraser Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraser_Island in the end last Friday, and it was most definately worth the wait!! Han and I would actually probably say its been the highlight of our 2 month trip so far!! So basically we chose the self-drive 4x4 tour; where you are thrown together with 11 random strangers, given an ancient Toyota Landcruiser, 4 tents, a very basic map and told to go on your merry way!! So we head to the shop, get stocked up with our food, and the all important 50 litres of GOOOOOON! for the 3 day 2 night trip. The key to a successful Fraser is a) the weather and b) the group you get put with. We were in luck on both counts; the weather had ... read more

Morning Campers! Greeting from a very wet and windy Rainbow Beach where we have been stuck FOR NEARLY A WEEK due to the stupid weather we are having right now!! OK, so we left Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday's behind last Wednesday, and off we went on a 11 hour bus ride to a COMPULSORY cattle station overnight stop called, "Kroombit". We were a little annoyed we HAD to stop there, but when we got there we realised we were in for a good night. We were greeted firstly with 'bar snacks' which was basically a huge pot of meat; of which you had to guess which animal it came from. It was so yummy! same texture as lamb, but a little bit of a milder flavour, Han and I guessed Goat and we got it ... read more

Gudday everybody!! Sorry its taken me so long to update this leg of the trip, but I've just been having so much fun and the Internet is so bloody expensive out here! When Han and I first booked our travels the only country we were really wanted to visit was Oz......... and here we are!! And so far it certainly isn't disappointing! We landed in Oz at 8am on our 26th Birthdays (thanks for all those b'day messages!) and the cabin crew got wind it was our Birthdays (ok, ok, we were kind of shouting it from the rooftops) and we got to go into the cockpit and meet the pilot and his co-pilot which was really cool (especially as the pilot was the hottest thing I had set my eyes on in the last 6 ... read more

Well after another 14 hour journey we make it to our second country and arrive in Penang, an island off mainland Malaysia. For all of those who dont know Malaysia is where my mum and Aunt spent most of their childhood growing up as my Grandfather was a Wing Commander in the RAF. Immediately after crossing the border from Thailand to Malaysia things began to change. Temples turned into mosques, mopeds turned into salon cars and the Thai writing turned into an almost legible western alphabet. Malaysia seems much more wealthy, Westernised with a large British influence (Malaysia only gained independence from us pesky Brits in 1957) and unlike Thailand (which is predominantly Bhuddist) The majority of Malay's are Muslim (54%). We cross the sea in a car ferry and land in Georgetown; which after Thailand; ... read more

Well after another hideous 12 hour journey, we arrive in Phuket, the largest island on the west coast of Thailand. We are dumped in the middle of Phuket Town at nearly Midnight and have to try and negotiate our way to the hostel. Within minutes we realise that booking 2 nights stay in Phuket town was a mistake. We were expecting a smaller scale Bangkok; but were we mistaken. It is filthy- cockroaches, rats and stray dogs everywhere. Everything is shut down- even though this is alledgedly this is the peak season!! We were starving but the hostel didnt do any food, and the only place we could eat was at a tiny street cafe 2 blocks away who only did fried chicken and noodle soup, and on the way Han was very nearly bitten by ... read more
