Hi all Sorry about the delay but as most of you know I am now back and my life is back to being completely chaotic so have only just got around to typing this! Well the last 3 days in Bolivia were pretty uneventful mainly because we did very little. As we were Boliviad out we spent one day just looking round La Paz which is a challenge in itself due to the altitude. The second day we went on a tour which comprised of just the 2 of us, a driver, a guide and a trainee guide??? The tour took us up a mountain to a view point which was very spectacular but very cold with snow on the tops of the mountains and the drive up there was another scary journey. In the afternoon ... read more

Hola Just to let you know their is a blog before this one called "Argentina" and for some reason the notification did not work. Anyway , last Wednesday we flew from Argentina into La Paz in Bolivia. The plane was yet again a crappy old thing which was delayed by a couple of hours but none the less got us their safetly. We arrived in La Paz late at night and got a taxi to our hostel in the centre of La Paz where we pretty much crashed straight out. Bolivia is probably the poorest country I have ever been too. They are in the top five as recipients of world wide aid and from what we have seen they are always begging for more. They don´t like tourists although we bring in lots of much ... read more

Buenos Dias Well we have made it to Argentina and arrived in Buenos Aires with luckily quite an uneventful flight and our luggage made it to which was good. The plane bothered us slightly as appeared to be very old with ashtrays in the arm rests and the seats didn´t recline, no TV and you had to duck your head to look out of the window. Once we landed we made this observation to Dan who informed us that that particular airline have one of the worst track records! Glad we found that out after and not before and I don´t think we will be using that airline again. Anyway we were met at the airport by Dan who is a friend of Robs from back home and he took us to his and his wife´s ... read more

Buenos Dias Well what a crap week we have had! Hopefully now it is starting to get better and I guess that all backpackers experience a bad week at some point and we have been pretty lucky up until now as to how smoothly everything has gone. Anyway when I last wrote our luggage had been lost by the airline and we were on our way to see Pilah who was our contact over here for the Inca Trail. Well we went to meet her and the good news was that she spoke very good English, this being very unusual here in Peru and thus our Spanish phrase book having become our most prized possession. Anyway Pilah was lovely and started to talk us through the itinery for the Inca Trail starting with day 1 and ... read more

Ohla Happy New Year everyone, I hope you all had a good one and a great Christmas. We have just had a fantastic 2 weeks in Mexico. We arrived at Cancun airport on Sunday 17th December at about 10pm after travelling for more than 22 hours so completely knackered, although very excited knowing would be seeing Mum and David soon. It took an hour to get to the hotel from the airport as we away from the touristy area of Cancun and in a place called Riviera Maya near to Playa del Carmen. We arrived at the hotel and turned into the entrance where you then had to drive about half a mile to reach the entrance to the hotel as massive. It is the most amazing hotel I have ever stayed in and talk about ... read more

Kia Ora (hello in Maori) Well the weather has improved thank god and it is nice and sunny although only reaching the early 20's. I know you probably all think I am ungrateful as you are all sitting at home freezing I expect but I don't care! Anyway, have had a mad week and have done loads although have managed to pick up a lovely stomach bug like the one I had in Thailand which has made me feel rubbish for most of the week but I have got on with things as did'nt want to miss out as only a few dys left here. Well on Monday we decided to drive back to Rotorua, this is where we first started out and we liked it here. There was still alot we had'nt done there and ... read more

Hi all Well before I start I would like to say thank you to all those of you who emailed in commenting on Robs lack of imagination when getting dressed in the morning and/or his hygiene standards. I had also noticed that in every pitcure he is wearing the same T-shirt and questioned him on this. He said thank you to everyone for their concern however he has been washing it regularly and it is just his favourite one! Anyway, the weather in New Zeland is crap! It is the same as England possibly even worse and this is supposed to be the start of their summer. We have had a couple of good days but still not hot, just warm and sunny and for the last 3 days it has been chucking it down with ... read more

Hi all Well spent my last week in Australia in Brisbane. After the fuss with the hostel we ended up with beds on the 2nd night as they had a couple of no shows which was a bit of luck so luckily we did'nt have to spend the rest of the week sleeping in the lounge area. The hostel was nice as very small which meant you got to meet everyone there and it was quite a sociable place. On the Friday we went for a wander round Brisbane and really liked the city centre as a big pedestrianised area with loads of great shops and lots going on. It did seem strange being so busy as everywhere we have been previously was very quiet. This was mainly due to the Ashes though and there were ... read more

Hi all ( bored of G'day) Sorry it's late but been very busy the past week and now completely knackered. Plus have had a bit of a nightmare with accommodation since arriving back on the East Coast here in Brisbane but I will fill you in later. Well we arrived in Perth in the early hours of Monday (13th Nov) and managed to find a hostel in the city centre. As it was about 2am and we were very tired we went into the first one we found which had a bed and booked in for 3 nights, in the morning we woke up thinking we were in a prison. We had been lucky up till this point with the hostels but this one I don't think had been updated or refurbished in the last 50 ... read more

G'day all Well we had a good last week in Queensland although it keeps getting hotter and hotter and very humid so makes you very sluggish. Arrived in Cairns last Friday and spent a couple of days here just looking around and then on the Sunday we booked a day trip to a town called Karundra. It's a small little town about 15 minutes north of Cairns and is beautiful as surrounded by the rainforest. We arrived at Cairns railway station where you board a Scenic Railway which takes about 1 hour to climb up to Karundra and on the way you pass the rainforest and waterfalls and is one of the most spectacular rail journeys and it was certainly pretty amazing. Once in Karundra we had the day to wander around and Rob managed to ... read more
