My travel buddy and I decided to celebrate my Birthday in Providencials, Turks & Caicos. It was good to go off-season because prices are a bit better and the beaches were barely inhabited. But, also, the down side is, there are more tropical storms brewing in the summer months. We did have allot of cloudy days, and rain - but it didn't dampen our spirits {pun intended} we went swimming anyways! We stayed at Comfort Suites which is across the street from Grace Bay Beach a good 5-7 min. walk, and from there we walked North up Grace Bay where there we very few people. Quiet. Serene. Just what we needed. There was a sort of rock wall in the water and we had fun spending our day there - jumping off the rocks into the ... read more

It was really amazing to see Machu Picchu in person after seeing it so many times in Travel Magazines. You just can't beleive it until you see it with your very own eyes. The weather was perfect, not too warm and not too chilly....it was great just making our way through this amazing place, discovering all the things we had read about in our travel guide. Seeing this structure for ourselves. I'm sure it would have been best to have a tour guide point out everything, but, luckily, I had my travel pal, who was very well read and could identify everything....the sundial.....the water fountain...the agriculture area as well as the domestic area. {It's great being friends with someone so smart!} I was hoping to see some llamas and I wasn't disappointed. As I was ... read more

Talk about Culture shock! Wow. Cairo is a city that never sleeps. Traffic, honking horns, cars double parked...and at the same time, you see donkeys with carts...women carrying sacks or water jugs on their heads. In many ways, I felt as though I had stepped several decades..or centuries.. back in time. If not for the tons of cars and high-rise buildings! Before we even arrived in Cairo, the staff at Isis Hotel was very helpful arranging trips and making it possible for us to see everything we had hoped to see. I e-mailed them prior to my arrival and they were very prompt with responding to all my questions. A driver was waiting for us at the airport and brought us to the Isis Hotel. From the outside, it's hard to tell that the building had ... read more

St. Martin had allot of diversities. It's like little Europe in the Carribbean. There are so many different nationalites living harmoniously together. The Airport as well as the Cruise ships are situated on the Dutch side of the island. Along with the Casinos, Nightclubs and lots of shopping in the town of Phillipsburg. The main street had scores of shops with gorgeous jewelery as the most popular item to buy, along with lots of souvineer shops. And then you pass through a hotel lobby or a restuarant from the main street after shopping, to the beach! It's great to sit at one of the many restuarants and people-watch as people stroll by on the cement walkway that paralells the beach. View of St Martin from the airplaneAnd looking out, you see the beautiful blue-green water and ... read more

It's always been a dream destination of mine...to see Tahiti. Her beautiful Islands lived up to the gorgeous brochures we have all seen and drooled over. But, the sparkling jewel was defintely....Bora Bora. The beauty of this island took my breath away! I visited Papette, Huahine, Moorea....which were all beautiful, but Bora Bora just stands out with it's amazing view. As I landed, and saw the almost black mountains{Mount Otemanu and Mount Pahia}, with the lush emerald greenery and the stunningly gorgeous blue lagoons...no words can describe the beauty. If, I appear to be 'gushing' it's because I am. This is paradise. And paradise does come with a price. Yes, a high price! Over-the-water bungalows start at $500 USD a night. Oh.....but, what a splurge. With glass see-through coffee tables ....you can see schools of fish ... read more

We weren't suppossed to end up in Lima, but because we didn't get on our flight....we decided to make the best of it by spending a day in Lima. We stayed in the Miraflores area and we were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful views of the Cliffs and the ocean. Watching the the Paragliders sail off the cliffs high above us was really exciting to see........until we decided to try it ourselves!! ... read more

Cusco, which is 11,151 feet above the level of the sea, has allot of diversity, with a European feel. Have lunch on the balcony of one the many resturants overlooking the Main Square and people watch...see the colorful clothing, the school children in their uniforms, the old man on the park bench. Then explore the many Museuems and Grand Churches. ... read more
