Hello everyone. Here I am back in Thailand. Its weird but it feels like home to me right now. I spent only 4 days in Laos after that long bus ride from Hanoi to the capital, Vientiane. The bus ride was hilarious. I barely slept, but i did fall asleep once, and was woken up at 3am while the bus was at the gas station. I passed out quickly after, but woke up 45 mins later with the bus half empty and parked on the side of the road. All of the westerners, including two British girls Becky and Helen whom Ive been travelling with since Hoi An, were sitting next to eachother, and so we could not get a full bench on the bus to sleep. All the Vietnamese who were still on the bus ... read more

Rebecca has had 2 motorcycle lessons so far; a pretty panicky rider but with no plans to take to the road, if ever, only just parking lot circles. Parents, do not fear. Weather is 90 degrees, our romantic Valentine's dinner was a $300.00 value in terms of ambience, setting, food and candlelight/croony guitar vibe. All for under $20 american. What more could a bargain-minded girl want? Speaking of bargains, we're getting comprehensive teeth cleanings here for $17 american...every couple of weeks, why not? We have been going to the "700 year sports complex", 2 km away, each day to use their excellent gym, Olympic-size pool with diving platforms and bake ourselves brown in the sun. We're getting really bronze and fit! Hot oil massages at 200 baht per hour ($5.00) really help the aching muscles...We also ... read more

Just a quick note today folks. Today was pretty uneventful. Got up at 2pm, a record low even by our standards. We're going trekking tommorow for three days and two nights with a group of 10 alltogether- Our hostel arranged it for us, our guide speaks really good English and used to live in one of the villagesdwe will be visiting. It sounds amazing, visiting different hill tribes and riding elephants- all for around thirty quid including food and drink. hope it will live up to the hype. I may be wrong but the last time i checked hilltribe villages didn't tend to have internet cafes! so i won't speak again for at least three days. After trekking we're probably heading into Laos quite soon after. Still formualting our plans though. Take Care Mike... read more

Hello Everyone, We arrived from Bangkok straight from Sri Lanka and immediately emabrked on another tour! We did a whistle stop tour of Bankgkok and its Grand Palace and more temples and were then whisked off on small boats to explore Bangkoks canals and waterways. In the company of an extremely camp Thai guide, we saw the cananls north of the city where people actually live on the river in houses on stilts and get around just by boats. It was the part of the river where the boat chase was filmed in the James Bond film ' The Man with the Golden Gun', and the boat drivers insisted on reinacting the movie with us in the boats, speeding round tiny bends and other boats, frightenening the hell out of all the tourists! Twas all good ... read more

We'll we've managed to get out of our guesthouse today for a small walk down the Soi. We went for our Thai cooking classes yesterday on a farm outside of Chiang Mai, which was amazing. We then went back home to book our treking tour for the next day .... Well at around 11:00 pm Carolyn started feeling ill and so did I around 4am... so as it was sleepless night, we had to cancel our trek. Oh well we'll try and go tomorrow or Friday before leaving, but I think we've decided to cut it down to one day trek, we have no strength as it is.. LOL Oh well they'll be good stories to tell down the road. Alright well we're off to try and find something that we can actually eat in this ... read more

... Well i say "full", if you can call any day that begins at 1.30pm a full day! Jonny went solo this morning as he didn't stay out as late as me and Will the night before. Me and Wills task for the day was basically to see the main attractions, there are temples everywhere throughout the city, population is around 1.6 million so its quite big. however there were three temples that were meant to be must sees. We got talking to a few locals on the street who were very helful in telling us in how to find the temples we were looking for and giving us lots of useful information about Thailand- Everyone seems to be so friendly. Often the tlaking to the locals and other travellers is as interesting as the temples ... read more

Stephanie and I are in chiang mai right now (Northern Thailand). We took a cooking course yesterday on an organic farm. It was so nice to get out of the City. ete some. Yesterday we went to a farm to learn how to cook thai food. It was amazing, unfortunately, I got a severe bout of food poisoning. I was up all night. It was NASTY! We have been trying to recover but it is very difficult. We were supposed to go on a two day trek today into the hill tribes, no way we were going to be up for that. We will try for a one day trek tomorow instead! Friday or Saturday we will bus to Chiang Rai and head back for a night in Bangkok. Then we will take the overnight train ... read more

Decided to catch the train at 230pm to Chiang Mai in the North of Thailand. The morning in Philsanulok consisted of me buying some sunglasses for 70pence and passing throught the local market. Definitely the weirdest market i've ever seen. They had live fish in the stalls ready to be bought, whole fish that were just heated up and ready to eat!?!? Also sold whole Pig Heads and chicken feet- Needless to say i thought i'd give them a miss! The 6 hour train journey to Chiang Mai was ok, some great scenery along the way. We managed to find a hostel at 830pm when we arrived, on the advice of some English girls we bumped into at the Grand Palace in Bangkok. Its called the Five Star Hostel and is only 100baht per night. We ... read more
