Correction from earlier in the week, the iguana… it wast an iguana at all, it was a sea monitor. I’m still no wiser, but thought I should correct myself! This will be my final amazing breakfast with Ella at Basecamp. As I leave tomorrow. In one thought, I seem to have been busy and done a lot, but I’m the next thought, I think…. Whooosh… we’re did the time go! I will be happy to move on to the next phase of my journey, but also dad to leave Ella behind! After breakfast we decided to crack on and get Ella’s highlights done. Honestly, I’m dreading doing them. It’s been around 25 to 30 years for me since I did this sort of stuff. In fact woven highlights hadn’t been invented when I was in salon!!!! ... read more

I was up at about 8am this morning. I could hear the yoga moving around, looked at the time, then chose to turn over for another half an hour! I am enjoying the lazy mornings, but they aren’t going to last the whole holiday. I know that when I hit Australia, it will be a whole different ball game! Ha ha! So I’m enjoying whilst I can! It was overnight oats and fruit, with all other bits on the end for breakfast today. To be honest, I’ve never eaten them before, but Ella gave us the option for going out for breakfast for a change. I could have gone with that option, but it’s nice for Ella to have a change from time to time. We got a tuk tuk to Hangtime. We had smashed avocado ... read more

Oohhh…. I didn’t sleep so well last night! I was in bed relatively early after the driving around in tuk tuks drama. I really tried to settle in to sleep, but after a couple of hours of tossing and turning, I gave up trying to go to sleep. I decided on watching a series of Golden Age on my iPad to help send me over! The last time I looked at the clock, it was 3am! But at least I then slept until 8am. I guess it’s not too bad, as I actually don’t have to do anything too tiring each day…. Just relax! Maybe it was the effects of the full moon!!!! Ella hasn’t got a lot of comings and goings today, just one early check out, no check ins; so we can go out ... read more

The astrologer in Rishikesh told me I should hang out with and feed dogs, so I ran with it and accepted an opportunity to go to Sri Lanka with an almost stranger to volunteer at an animal shelter for a week. Plans had changed once again (I'm starting to get used to this) and Orion and I have been split up for a few weeks while he is in Nepal. I joined a German Buddhist (who has doubled as my bodyguard) to Midigama in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. It was definitely the most spontaneous plans I've ever made (aside from jumping in the car for a random weekend camping trip), as Orion gave me notice of his new plans and then 24 hours later I was buying my new flight. Another 48 hours and ... read more

India to Sri Lanka It took 34 hours with 2 hours of disjointed airport sleep in between, but I finally made it from India to Sri Lanka! India, you taught me a lot and introduced me to plenty of beautiful people, but you were rough. So grateful to be in a quiet town with an empty beach now. Plans shifted and I've learned that there's no use in fighting what the universe presents. All the struggles and things I wouldn't have chosen are just opportunities for something new. So when orion told me he wanted to split up and travel with someone else for a while, I knew better than to argue. Sure I'm not happy about it, but it's about time he and I take some space from each other. So while he is in ... read more

Sri Lanka was to be one of the most interesting and beautiful places we visited – a bit of everything rugged coast, mountains, beaches and history. Although the temperature was humid there was some respite with cooler evenings and occasionally some rain which helped. In the evenings when we reached the hills you could say it was almost chilly – very welcome after months of relentless heat. Sri Lanka is another multi-faith place Buddhist/Muslim/Christian and a few others. The taxi driver from the airport gave a quick overview of some local information...for some unknown reason all the local fisherman were Christian (how apt), he was a Buddhist which is also the main religion. The discussion quickly turned to cricket and to his favourite cricket player – Malinga, this meant very little to me (Tina) at this ... read more
