Hi,

I am doing a short trip through Sri Lanka. Going to a village in the North Western province, then going to Sigiriya. I'd like to find out the best way to travel from Sigiriya to Kandy and subsequently to Nurawa Eliya, and how long the travel would take.

Thank you! Reply to this

Hi, Looks like time is a factor then fastest (best?) way is by car - chauffeur driven.

By car S to K is about 3 hours and K to NE is about 3.5 hours. Reply to this

the best way is public transport if you are happy to get along with the locals. There are buses leaving from Dambulla bus stand which is just 30 minutes ride from Sigiriya. You can get in to a Tuk Tuk from sigiriya for just 150 rupees and get down from kimbissa Junction. There you can get in to an express bus traveling towards Colombo or Kurunegala. Pay 20 rupees and get down from Dambulla. From Dambulla bus stand you can easily get in to an express bus traveling to Kandy.
Kandy Nuwaraeliya intercity buses are available. But the best method in the afternoon is you select the train as you can enjoy the view. Make sure you get the train time table and only pick an intercity express train as the other trains unnecessarily delay the journey. Kandy - Badulla train. You need to buy tickets to Nanuoya station.
Get down from Nanuoya station and get in to a bus traveling to nuwara eliya city.

Hi, thanks for the great advice. I've been to Sri Lanka and back, and it was a great trip. I didn't get to see enough though, and am already planning to return next year! Reply to this
