After a plane, bus, ship and boat Erica and I made it to Bohol! We had no plans at all so after getting some assistance we found ourselves the cheapest joint in the city and headed over to Casa Juana. After checking in we headed out to explore the town. It isn't exactly the prettiest of town, but strolling through the city our main focus became food and food we did find. There were little eateries everywhere that you could choose several different option for just 10 pesos each! This was great for me, but unfortunately it's not so great for vegetarians. Turns out pretty much every dish seems to have some meat in it making it hard for Erica to find anything. Despite that we found a place and grabbed some food and the headed ... read more

Well arrived in Cebu City it was time to start a new chapter of our adventures. Our beginning in the Philippines is primarily concentrated around life by the sea. Cebu City is a big city with around 2 million citizens. Still it is rather uninteresting from our point of view. Well, if you are a fast food addict there is ample supply. If you like shopping you’ll find two massive shopping malls. Since we are neither, we were quite pleased saying farewell to Cebu City. We do have to mention the local hospital. Christian had to go there to have a check up on an infection. Even though it is pretty sick being ill, it was a good experience to visit this big hospital. The nurses and doctors were very friendly and not at least very ... read more

Geo: 11.9533, 121.936By just about any measure, Boracay is the number one beach destination in the Philippines. Although we've developed a certain beach expertise (and I think we still have that beach walk swagger) from our stay in the south of Thailand, we were heading to Boracay because it is arguably the best place on the planet to learn Kite Surfing. Deb P is always going on and on…and on and on….and on and on about the joys of kite surfing and we thought if she could do it, it must be a relatively easy sport to master. We set aside 3 days which should see us doing somersaults and backflips.Unfortunately, the flight down took us through some pretty ominous looking clouds and things didn't improve much upon landing (we really can't complain- in 8 months ... read more

Travelling with family is so much fun.. enjoying the sand and the sea life with your love ones can be all worth it.. spending time in boracay is so much fun for me but then the worst is that the time when we went there i was sick but still i'm on the go for the beach fun.... you can do a lot a of things in boracay but expect that this is not an ordinary beach . For me everything seems to be so expensive , but u cna still find some cheaper ones if you have the patience to walk around just like me.... we spent at sunshine's place, which i don't recommend this to you who wanted to travel and stay in boracay... the owner of the pension house is a monster cos ... read more

The sun hesitantly shines through a thick blanket of clouds as acres and acres of sugarcane protrude from both sides of the highway. It has been three hours of an uneventful bus ride in search of a nice vantage point for a shot of the Mt. Kanlaon, and as unremarkable town structures gradually pave way for majestic views of fields and the mountain ranges at the horizon, there's the lingering sense that I'm headed deep into a rarely ventured territory. Situated between Cebu and Panay, the island of Negros has seen relatively fewer tourists than the Visayan heavyweights. Negros Occidental, west of the mountain range that splits the island into two provinces, particularly receives less visitors. Especially coming to Bacolod - the provincial capital - a few days after the Masskara Festival, there's an overriding thought ... read more

Early Easter Sunday, Iselin, Tom and I grabbed a taxi to the airport, and boarded our pane to Cebu. The plane was surprisingly short and we got straight in a taxi to the pier, and within 5 minutes we were on the ferry bound for Bohol. To our relief we were on a study, normal ferry made of metal and everything. The morning had gone by in a flash of different forms of travel, we threw our bags down on the roof of the deck and lay, barefoot in a heap on the floor, in true backpacker style. Bang, Bang, Bang we were off the ferry, on a tricycle to the bus station and on an hour bus bound for Carmen, the central town of the island, closest to the Chocolate hills I had been eager ... read more

THE PICTURES IN THIS BLOG ARE NOT IN ORDER WITH HOW WE TRAVELLED OR TOOK THEM...WE PUT UP TOO MANY TO GO THROUGH AND RE-ORDER...IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN TOO LONG...THEY ARE ALL LABELED SO YOU CAN CONNECT THEM WITH THE PARTS OF THE BLOG...ENJOY After two weeks in Dumaguete visiting with Wilson and family, we were back off on our own, trying to cover all the sights in the few weeks we had left. We covered almost every island in the Visayas, traversed most of Palawan and even made it to the northern mountains of Luzon for some rice terrace viewing. Here's a quick overview of our route and the immense amount of travel involved... (skip this part and just head to the highlights if you don't ever plan on visiting the Philippines or trying to ... read more
