My Working place organised a short tour to Genting Highlands in Malaysia. Genting Highlands is situated on a hill in the pahang state. It is well known for its cool climate and its casino. Singaporeans flock over there to try their luck over there. Nowadays there is alot of Arabs coming over to enjoy the cool temperture and have fun with the family in the theme parks. The largest Hotel in the world is here with 5600 rooms, There is lots of ways of getting to genting and the most freqent is by road. For the well heeled they even have helicopter service. The road leading to genting is twisty and steep but most drive up anyway, i like taking the cable car up as it offers a more relaxing trip up. Once in Genting we ... read more

After saying goodbye to everyone at the airport I went through to the customs area. When I was there I met a lady who is living in Melbourne, but is originally from India. It was quite funny, because as we were walking through the metal dectors, they kept going off because she was wearing so much jewelry. It took her so many goes to get through. Once we got to Malaysia, we met up at the airport again. The hotel I am staying in is quite nice. It is surrounded by shopping centres. There is literally a mall on every side of the hotel. From my hotel window I can see the Petrona’s Towers, and the Kuala Lumpur Tower. After I settled into the hotel I had a shower and then went to send a few ... read more

Brilliant - first encounter with o/s internet at hotel is absolute nightmare! Was well on the way to great first blog on the road, only to have it destroyed by pop ups! Ahhhh alas I must try once again! Well if independant travelling/backpacking is a religion and Lonely Planet is the bible, right now I am about the equivalent of the anti-christ of travel :) Right now am living the life of a prima donna - and just on the side - it is a pretty good lifestyle :) I wake up, have some breakfast, hit poolside, read, sunbake (try to avoid getting too burnt - darn pasty Melbourne Winter skin), read, drink, have massages, read some more, swim some more, go have a relax in my room, then think about going out to the night ... read more
