So we are OFF on our third Asia trip travelling together, first stop Kuala Lumpur via Amsterdam. Skyscanner produced the most bargainous flights ever - £309 return with the lovely KLM, with only an hour transfer time in Schipol each time. We couldn't believe it! I realised this time that last time my insurance wouldn't have been valid as I was way over the 31 days allowed on my annual policy. Whoops. Rookie error! Phoned up this time and extended for £14. That would have been a VERY expensive mistake. Incidentally, I was surprised to find very few people blogging this year. Apparently there's a bug in the system, so I'm going to publish this and see if it shows up anywhere. So no actual travel done yet! Testing, testing.......... read more

Da er vi på farten igjen. Denne ferien er planlagt for over 6 mnd siden. Men reiselederen hadde ikke prioritert å planlegge innholdet i ferien. Når det var kun uker igjen til avreise var gode råd dyre. Vi hadde kun flybilletter til Singapore, ingen planer for hvor vi skulle reise, ingen transport eller hotell! Kontaktet Ibsen Reiser i Oslo da de reklamerer for at de er gode på planlegging og gjennomføring av innholdsrike ferier. De har lagt opp en innholdsrik tur for oss med alle hotell, transport og opplevelser underveis. Med andre ord... vi behøver ikke tenke på noe som helst, alt er ordnet! 18th Jan: I enjoyed my hostel breakfast out on the balcony looking out over the mountains behind Ipoh. I got chatting to a guy who had been staying in my dorm, we booth commented on how we liked the chilled out vibe Ipoh has going on. I was really jealous when he was telling me about travelling to Thailand in the 80s, and how beautiful and different it was back then. I really wish I could time travel. I almost didn't make it out of the hostel because when I got to the bottom of the stairs the metal door was locked. Luckily, there were some keys in reception so I could unlock the door. (Blog écrit à la demande expresse de matante Sylvie) J’écris ces lignes dans le Premium Red Lounge d’Air Asia dans l’aéroport de Kuala Lumpur. Y’a rien de trop beau pour la classe ouvrière…. Donc après un break de 18 mois sans voyage, je suis en route pour le Sri Lanka. Pourquoi? À l’origine, ça devait être un retour en Inde pour visiter le sud. Puis ça devait être moitié Inde, moitié Sri Lanka. Et puis finalement Sri Lanka uniquement puisqu’il y a pas mal de chose à voir et à faire. C’est un peu une version plus tranquille de l’Inde. Je l’ai aussi vu décrit comme un mélange entre l’Inde et les Caraïbes. Avant de m’y rendre, un arrêt de quelques jours en Asie du Sud-Est, plus précisément à Singapour et Kuala Lumpur. Well its been a while since I last updated the old blog as I've not been on any long trips due to moving house. In my fantasy world that was all going to take a couple of months and off i'd go but in the real world it took nearly 18 months. During that time I did manage a ten day stint in Malta which I really enjoyed especially Valletta. I also took a couple of weeks in Southern Spain starting in Malaga, which was much nicer than i was expecting , before taking the train up to Seville......fantastic if you've not been go.
