Hey There! Well, it's been a while. Since my last entry, Ryder and I ventured down the Mekong and through parts of Northern Laos and have now landed in Vietnam. It's a bit crazier here than Laos, and since we've only just arrived a couple of days ago, I will be giving stories from here at another time. For now I'll focus on Laos... The float down the Mekong was beautiful,despite being uncomfortable. We were on an old, traditional, wooden boat (with a motor of course) and they just threw in some hard wooden benches for passengers to sit on during the ride. Ich kam heute erst recht spät los, was allerdings nicht an den fünf Flaschen Bier lag, die ich gestern in geselliger Runde getrunken hatte, und auch nicht daran, dass ich bis um 1 Uhr nachts Fußball schaute, sondern an einer langwierigen, aber letztendlich halbwegs erfolgreichen Reparatur eines gerissenen Schaltzuges. Ich hätte es nicht für möglich gehalten, dass in Vieng Xay ein neuer Schaltzug aufzutreiben wäre, aber glücklicherweise war dem tatsächlich so, auch wenn das neur Kabel etwas zu kurz ist. In die Provinzhauptstadt Sam Neua waren es nur 30 km auf teilweise neu geteerter Straße (von Deutschland finanziert) und, obwohl die Gegend natürlich sehr bergig ist, gab es nur eine längere Steigung in Richtung Sam Neua zu bewältigen, so dass ich bereits gegen halb 1 in der Stadt, oder besser gesagt, dem Städtchen eintraf.
