Budget way of getting to KL (no lengthy bus trips please)

Looking for a budget-conscious way of getting down to KL from Vientienne (no lengthy bus trips as young children accompanying).
For example, would an overnight train from NK in Thailand to Bangkok and then fly to KL be feasible ? What are flight prices like over there from LP or Vientienne to KL ? Thanks.

i think there is a direct flight from vientiane to kl by airasia ( www.airasia.com ). Price very reasonable.

Have you tried the budget airlines like Air Asia? You can often fly cheaply with the likes of them. A
If you check out Attitude Travel it shows you a list of all the budget airlines in the area by destination. You could compare it to your proposed route.
