The flight to Tokyo was only 11 hours and passed by soon enough. Luckily I was sat next to another friendly JET called Susi, which helped pass the time. We arrived at about 9am Sunday morning. I managed to get through customs without a hiccup, despite a scary moment when they asked to view my contraceptive pills just to make sure they were legit and I had to scrabble around in my bag to find them. My large bag arrived, hurrah, we were met by the JET organisers and ushered to the coaches bound for Shinjuku in Tokyo (Nairita airport is over an hour away). They were checking all our passports when we got to the buses and sods law the girl looking at mine frowned and said they’d got mine wrong. I was whisked back ... read more

So on Saturday night, I went to see a play starring my most favorite cutest man in the world... Joshima Shigeru. If you do not know, he is in the band TOKIO. I like them (if you couldn't tell). SO. Here is a story about my adventure~ I wasn't able to get a ticket through jticket like I did with the TOKIO con, which isn't surprising as TOKIO is, well, TOKIO, and this has Shige (a younger member of a much more popular band called NewS), so about a billion more people want to see it which means tickets are a little harder to come by. So for that reason, I went through a Johnny's ticket community on Mixi (the Japanese version of Facebook) and lucked out when a girl contacted me about selling me her ... read more

Thank you all for giving us your warm words regarding the earthquake disaster of Japan. Fortunately all of my family and friends are alright. Actually there wasn't a lot of damage in the Tokyo area. But the northern part of Japan was horribly damaged because of the tsunami attacks and there are still tons of missing people and evacuees. All we can do is just pray for them. I experienced the huge quake which hit the city of Kobe 16 years ago. I was there when it happened. I totally understand how the people feel in that damaged region. Wish everything get back to normal as soon as possible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Japanese government has asked the food and beverage companies to supply their products as emergency provisions for the people in damaged area... read more

Destination: Shinjuku Gyoen Park, Shinjuku, Tokyo Map → http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/location/regional/tokyo/shinjuku.html Date: May, 2010 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you overlook the whole city of Tokyo from the observation deck of Tokyo Tower (http://www.tokyotower.co.jp/english/), what do think your eyes catch? The answer is – tons of buildings and houses with little green. The views are not so beautiful, no matter how tall a building you go up is. The bottom line is that there are too many people gathering in this city. Its population is close to 13 million. If you include the whole Tokyo metropolitan area, the number of people exceeds 35 million which is the highest figures in the worl... read more

Wow, I have a lot of entrys back dated on here so far because I have been way too busy to update the blog. Anyway, So I went to Shinjuku this week with some friends for a night on the town. Shinjuku is known for it's exciting night life, big lights, and numerous other things. So, I decided to check it out and see what all of the fuss was about. This week was the week of the TGS , so i figured instead of going to a traditional bar with some friends, why not go to a bar that should be geared towards video games? We got to some searching on the internet and found a bar entirely dedicted to mario games! The name of the bar is Muteki Mario, meaning invincible mario. How awesome ... read more

while traveling first class is luxury for most trips, it becomes a necessity for flights lasting for more than 6 hours. We stayed at the Park-Hayatt in Shinjuku. Famous for shooting scenes of "Lost in Translation", it is a common local destination for after work drinks while enjoying a spectacular view of Tokyo's skyline. However, the hotel's facility I enjoyed the most was its ultra modern gym and super nice pool located at the 47th floor. ... read more
