I needed to get away from work and life for a while.... My local travel agent suggested Cairns! I stayed 7 nights and got to explore Cairns City, the northern beaches, Atherton tableland, Cape Tribulation and I spent a day out snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. Great for a short break away and really quite cheap!... read more

We took the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) in the morning from Tokyo Station to Kyoto. After we dropped our bags off at our hotel, we headed to Kiyomizudera Temple. After Kiyomizudera we headed off to Yasaka Shrine, through all the little back streets of Gion. We basically just moved with the throng of people as it was so busy. By the time we made it past the Koadiji temple, it was starting to get dark. Fortunately, the temples and their gardens are lit up at night, so it is a really great atmosphere. We had ... read more

The Meiji Jungu (Shrine) and Harajuku are amazing. I'm so glad we visited both of these places. We were there on a day that children dressed up in traditional clothing, as did their parents for a traditional Shinto ceremony. Takeshito Dori is amazing at night - alive with lots of people and very bright!... read more
