After covering Masaimara in the last two video blogs, this is my third episode of the slideshow. This time my destination was Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria. Unlike Masaimara where we stayed in tents for two nights, we made day trips in both Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria. I made my base in Nakuru, so it was easy to cover them both in two separate day trips. But don’t underestimate the wild life of Lake Nakuru although the area is smaller as compared to Masaimara. True, it’s not a vast landscape like Mara, but there is no shortage of wild life in Lake Nakuru, - zebra, giraffe, impala, rhino, baboon, you name it. If you just want to experience wild life and a day of enjoying safari, a quick and easy way is to head out ... read more

Überall trifft man ... read more

This is the second episode of video blog to present a slideshow of my journey through my dreamland Africa. I have tried to capture the imagination of my viewers through my lens presenting a slideshow with my narration. It is the beautiful Masaimara! Many come here for safari and I also enjoyed the safari. But generally, I want to stay away from the tourist attractions. I love my lonely planet of Africa where the blooming Jacaranda and thorny bush land of Africa cover the landscape, the red earth picks up the stormy dust and the herd of elephants often takes shelter from the hot afternoon sun under Acacia trees. That is my Africa where I can listen to its story on my own. I love that Africa. As I have mentioned often, the movie “Out of ... read more

Pictures are worth of thousand words....we all know that. So I fancied to share my epic journey in Africa through my lens - slideshow. I will be posting seven short video clips covering my fairy tale journey in this continent that I have slowly fallen in love with. This is the first clip of the series. Believe me, I am not going to burden you with long video clips that you would start yawning...they are merely four minutes each, - just a few blinks. And I surely know, the appreciation always lies in the eyes of beholder - YOU. I certainly hope to see that sparkle in your eyes! Here you go! ... read more

I left Kima on Thursday, October 25th, with a bus to Nairobi where I arrived at 6PM. My friend Nathalie from Manchester was in Nairobi and I had booked a room in the same hostel as she and her friend Kate, so that I would be able to spend one evening with her. I was very happy to see her and I had been looking forward to this for a long time. The only thing I regretted in Kima was not having any friends. Most adults were friendly, but nobody really talked to me or tried to befriend me ; so, I mostly stayed alone and I was a bit lonely sometimes. This enhanced my wish to see Nathalie a lot! ^_^ We stayed at the Wildebeest Hostel, close to the Nairobi national park. It was ... read more

The Lion Hunt The light started to wane as we meandered through the Acacia Thorn bushed trail at about 5 kilometers an hour, hoping to spot one last time, before the dimming light made it impossible, one of the big five from our perches that we were seated in the back of the canopied Land Rover. Our driver Michael, and our spotter Eric, two Masai warriors had their eyes glued to the task at hand. In the conservancy, the roads and trails twisted and turned, so that quite often, we would encounter game crossing the road in front of us, always trying to get out of our way. One time, our driver and spotter, but not on this particular drive, each had their eyes glued each one looking to the left or the right, with actually ... read more

A 4 am wake up, found us packing to leave Mombasa, grabbing a quick cup of java, a cupcake and off we go -on safari into the tsvao west safari African park. A beautiful sunrise greeted us as we said goodbye to Mombasa and began our four hour trip to the west border of Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro. At last we arrived at the entrance to the park and headed onto the trail. Our journey slowly began with a few animal greeters and as we progressed apparently the game received the word that the Gingles expedition had arrived, and boy did they come out for a real African Howdy or Jambo . Zebras, giraffes, and many more of the animal kingdom turned out including a couple of cool lions who just couldn’t figure us out but ... read more

Morning appears with monkey shenanigans outside our tent, vocal arguments between hippos, and a croc’s sleepy, lethargic body across the nearby waters. Breakfast at the Voyager Safari Camp was located at the main dining area nearby our overnight accommodations which were tents that included running water, toilets -yea! - under thatched shelters . We immediately had our breakfast of eggs, bacon/sausage, pancake (flat African style) and juice and coffee... and we were off to make the trek back to rural Mombasa to check the progress of the water drill . On our way, we were able to see other animals who crossed our path. And as we got closer to the city we found out the drillers had hit rock and it would be perhaps another day before they would be able to drill through it. ... read more
