Decido di prendermi una breve pausa dal viaggiare, una vacanza oserei dire, e di allontanarmi momentaneamente da Israele e dal suo costo della vita a dir poco esagerato. Attraverso il confine nel profondo Sud tra le citta' di Eilat e Taba e mi ritrovo cosi' nel Sinai, quel triangolo di terra che forma un ponte naturale tra l'Asia e l'Africa, una terra di aride montagne e mari stupendi, popolata dai nobili beduini, antichi padroni di queste lande desolate. E vacanza sia! Mi fermo nel nulla a meta' strada tra Taba e Nuweiba, dove su un lungo tratto di spiaggia dorata, praticamente disabitata, sorgono decine di "camps" beduini presso cui poter soggiornare nel piu' completo isolamento dalla civilta' e da quasi tutte le comodita' del mondo moderno. After our relaxing days at the Red Sea we had to say good bye to our Egyptian tour guide and make our way via ferry to Jordan. We were dropped off at the port and with the help of a security guard got through customs without any incidents. (We entered in one building, put our bags through an xray machine that no one paid any attention to and then had to go to another building to wait.) We were ushered into one corner of a large hall where all of the ferry passengers were waiting. The passengers were mostly local, and the other tourists were from the middle east. As we debarked from the Ferry into the Arab Republic of Egypt, chaos erupted. Jordan has been so organised and orderly that Egypt came as quite a shock. For customs & immigration reasons our Jordanian leader was not with us for the journey across to Egypt and we were instructed that our new tour leader would meet us as we got off the ferry. As we entered the busy customs hall there was no one there to meet us. Myself and the other members of the group did not have visas so we told we couldn't enter until our tour leader arrived with the required visas.
