Hello all!

Well, after a very very late train from Italy last night, I am home after a beautiful little 3 day rest at my Aunt Marlene and Uncle Luigi's house in a little town called Rosa in Italy. Rosa is a little town (VERY little) that sits about an hour inland by train from Venice, and just 5 minutes from the beautiful town of Bassano del Grappa. I stayed in my Uncles charming house which sits on the edge of beautiful corn and wheat fields, and is thus very peaceful and very relaxing.

Although I didn't really get up to much while I was there, it was great to go and spend some time with my family and with some friends that I have there. That, and eating a few GOOD homecooked meals of my Aunt Marlenes made it worth the journey!

Wednesday I did ride my Aunt Marlene's squeaky, rickety bike to Bassano, a great little town that had next to no other tourists in it, beautiful sights, a ton of great shopping and where nobody speaks English which is great because I am forced to use my broken Italian! I didn't have time for the

shopping unfortunately, but I spent some time enjoying the river and the old bridge called the Ponte degli Alpini, as well as just biking through some of the old cobblestone streets and discovering little shops I hope to some day go back to when I have more time! It was much different feeling from when I was there at Christmas 2 years ago... everything was open and bright, tons of locals out enjoying the sunshine, and lots of outdoor cafes serving generous amounts of wine and Grappa (the special wine the region is famous for).

I was supposed to take an early train to Venice to spend some time there before heading home to Ljubljana, but when we got to the train station there was a strike until 5pm, so I didn't go until nearly 6pm, leaving me only an hour and a half in Venice before getting the late train to Ljubljana... just long enough to nearly get myself lost looking for a good place for dinner!! Believe me, if you've been to Venice you'll know its not hard to get yourself lost in the scaringly narrow streets and hundreds of little bridges over the canals! (PS - When you get off the train in Venice, don't be surprised if you don't here a lick of Italian. I felt like I must have been in America with all the English I heard... mostly American, but also some Aussie and British accents mixed in there. So strange!) Anyway, I managed to snap a couple of shots, find some cheap pizza (unfortunately American pizza... the Italian stuff is MUCH better but is a sit down meal and i didn't have time), and get on the train in time to snag myself a place in a sleeping car for an extra 12 Euros instead of the usual 20... sometimes it pays to be cute and blonde! I shared the little car with a nice Aussie bloke who I felt VERY bad for waking up at 3:30am when the train got to Ljubljana! ... Oh, and P.S., the buses here do run all night! I thought i would have a half hour walk back home, but a bus came along right as I got to the stop that goes straight to my house! Such a blessing!

Ok, that's it for now. Start school on Monday and tomorrow have my first information
