me and my "off the rocks" ritas This day started off very slowly...2 cups of coffee and a good book on the balcoona. Catherine and Trevor went to the movies with MG (aka Dad) and it was off to the shops again for Tracy, Carol, and me. I was in search of black and white prints of the pyramids taken at the turn of the century. We went to the Maadi (not so) Grand Mall to the frame shop in the basement, but of course there were none of the ones I was looking for. Tracy and I have been dying to have a lemon juice and falafel at Arzak's in the mall so we dragged Carol there...at least she could have a diet Coke and a fag while we gorged ourselves on Egyptian cuisine, but NOOOOO, they have no lemons to make lemon juice! I was about to come out of my seat until Tracy took control and ordered Coke light for us all. Then off to another gold souk where I fell in love with a gold bracelet that matches my skin tone perfectly (says Carol).
After all of this, we are welcomed home to Paul roasting a leg of lamb on the balcony. Hmmm...lamb,

hunk of Aussie meat, and a leg of lamb too! those cute fluffy sheep things? It was a very hot day so I offered to make margaritas. I got to mixing all the ingredients (hand squeezed baladi lemons) to discover that Tracy and Paul have NO ICE in their freezer!!!!!! What's worse is that I have been here for 2 weeks and have never even noticed this anomaly! I am such a bad American. After a strong warm drink, even hanging out the wash was fun! The lamb was divine and I got to gnaw on the bone, which made me miss my doggies, Katy and Boone. Tracy’s salad was refreshing and the dinner conversation quite interesting with 3 teenagers at the table. That’s all…tomorrow is another day!
