Yep its me...Nick is still battling with a tummy bug. It appears the carribean food and beer remedy we were trying wasnt working, therefore it is nil by mouth, except for water, fruit and rehyrdation sachets. The centre of the village, where the shops and internet are etc is a good mile round trip and not wise for Nick to do in the current heat. Fortunately/or unfortunately for me, my stomach appears to be "embracing" the carribean culture...therefore the walk will do me good!!

Today is the hottest day we have had so far and it is hot hot hot. Placencia is lovely, very pretty, with a really relaxed carribean vibe, mixed with american tourists...which is fine, except when the middle aged ladies in the cabin/apartment next to us decide to bring a local rasta man back to their balcony at 3am in the morning and proceed to try the local herb...i made my thoughts clear, honestly it was embarrassing for them at their age!

Anyways, i am designated tour leader for the next part of the trip, which is why i am here. We are heading off Monday morning to an area in North West Belize, called Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve and staying in a village called San Ignacio. The mountains, cool breeze, clear air and waterfalls should make for a nice change from the slightly sticky Placencia.

Right, i am off for a sneaky icecream (i am not allowed to eat anything in front of Nick that he cant have, and you have already read the list of the things he can have!).

We will be in touch soon with an update of our mountain adventures.

Take care
