Finally, at 29, i have made the highly debatable decision to do one to central america for 6 months, leaving my job as the glue holding the creaking behemoth of Hampshire Police together.
This has nothing to do with escaping the long arm of those Scientologists.
I will be travelling with my girlfriend; two gringo's learning the lingo, and this is a place for my musings, oft pointless ramblings surrounding my adventures, and a place to see if i have been eaten by sharks a'surfing, been done for a'smuggling, or held hostage by some dubious chain smoking sorts in a jungle enclave Johnny Rambo would be proud of.
Guest authoring will be Tracey. No financial incentive will be offered to stop her telling things as it really is, though physical persuasion may come into play if her attitude isn't good enough, so it'll provide a decent enough counterweight to what ever drivel comes from my mouth......
Hopefully.
From the largest city in the world, Mexico....City, all the way down to Cartegena in Colombia, the coolest sounding city on earth. If said right. Drums up brighter visions in my eye than Blackpool.
Via beaches and islands Robinson and his imaginery French alterego Crusoe would feel at home on, volcanoes, lakes and jungles, when the time comes, I hope this journey opens my eyes and prepares me for what lies in the future, and by association will entertain and provide decent work avoidance time for all those intrigued enough to follow us......

Firstly, i would like to publicly congratulate the might Manchester United FC for becoming this season champions. I doubt they have time to read our blog due celebrating but i feel it´s necessary to mention. Following Nicks last blog, despite it only being a couple of days passing, i thought i would give you all a few more details. The fact that there is air con in the internet cafe is NOT the reason! Nicks blog came after a hard couple of weeks, of which the hardest factor being the heat. Nicaragua is without a doubt the hottest country i have [View Full Entry]

Well, we made it to Nicaragua. Leftie central. About 9 buses, 2 boats, 2 countries bad bad BAD accomoations, and now the beach. Result. Sort of.... we came here instead of El Salvador, via Copan Ruinas in Honduras, with the intention of going back through El Salvador. I have to say, 15$ to get into Copan ruins, and i was muchly underwhelmed, considering the bigger and more atmospheric ones in Mexico and Gaute were abot half the price and twice the size. Strange really. the town was really nice though, quiant and really really small..the smallest parque central i have seen [View Full Entry]

So we recovered from the hike of doom, only to be faced with the journey of infinate peril, Pana to Xela. It wasnt really, but it sounds good huh. It should be a simple journey, but construction is king in the dry season. They cant do anything during the rainy season, so (much like England) they start as many as they possibly can, and thus dont finish them. Organised chaos you see, i hear much like Saints' season thus far. Every 10 miles or so you have to wait for the diggers to finish, and this is where the fun starts. [View Full Entry]

Three Volcans, San Pedro in the foreground, then Tomilan with the large Atitlan in the middle. I think.
Hola, Nick has allowed me this once to do a travel update. The reason being we did our first proper "hike" two days ago, and in order for me to be able to move on and maybe even do another "hike" i need to express my self in words. You´ll notice i put the word hike in speech marks...thats because it was a lie...and i am still trying to think of something more suitable!!! Let me begin, we had a choice of two hikes, both leaving at 6am in the morning from San Pedro La Laguna, one was to go up [View Full Entry]

Not the best pic, but its the only one i managed to get. Tis a hard thing to predict you know, lightning....
So.... we left Flores tired, hot, but at least we didnt miss the bus, and we got to witness the most amazing electrical storm! we headed South, away from the heat, which was recorded at about 37 celsius. We also escaped a jaded, dope fiend Canadian at our hostel, AND, another Canadian, who had a story for every occassion as he reckoned he was a travel writer....i have sold a picture, that doesnt make me a travel photographer....you'd understand if you met him...so what is it with the Canadians!! We stopped off en route at a little petrol station at this [View Full Entry]

I can only put a few pics on, as even though it works, this has taken over an hour!
Beinvenido, ¿como esta? i just wanted to use an upside down question mark :o) well, i've been awake since about 4a.m. We had booked a sunrise tour to Tikal, but as with the other thing i wanted to see at Palenque, it didnt work out, the alarm didnt function as it should, so we missed it, and in the process blew 15$. A typically successful effort, and we cant go during the day as its sooooo hot, even the locals are sweating, and you just cant move, let lone clamber around on ruins, so we'll either have to come back or [View Full Entry]

Right, so we have better computers, so HOPEFULLY some pictures will accompany this little entry, but dont blame me if i have spoken too soon. At the moment, we're in a river valley town called San Ignacio, up in the hills, and had hoped the weather would be less stifling, but oh no, its probably worse becuase being in a bowl, the breeze isnt as stiff as you'd like, so i have had about 4 showers today, and will be having at least 2 more by sleep time! We left Placencia on another little plane, much fun, was a clearer day [View Full Entry]

Yep its me...Nick is still battling with a tummy bug. It appears the carribean food and beer remedy we were trying wasnt working, therefore it is nil by mouth, except for water, fruit and rehyrdation sachets. The centre of the village, where the shops and internet are etc is a good mile round trip and not wise for Nick to do in the current heat. Fortunately/or unfortunately for me, my stomach appears to be "embracing" the carribean culture...therefore the walk will do me good!! Today is the hottest day we have had so far and it is hot hot hot. Placencia [View Full Entry]

I have tried twice now to add photos of where we are, but the world changing technology of the net doesnt seem so world changing here, so no can do, and i dont expect it will get any better further on, so sorry! ps, the weather has turned, buffeted by winds (i say its nearly a hurricane, T doesnt quite agree!) and rain like you've never seen! at last though, proper weather, none of the shades of grey!! Hello, Tracey has been booted off for a lacklustre performance last time, so stuck with me for now..... Finally escaped Mexico, with most of my intestines in tact, huzAAR, though its still lingering around. but where i am now, i couldnt care, glorious sun, beaches and the Carribean sea, nice and toastie! So, Mexico. MXC was pretty good, apart from the guys playing there Harmonipan, some kind of wind up noise machine that just, well, made an excuse for music that hurt the head a lot! And the shere number of police, wow. The Daily Mail readers would rejoice, bobbies on [View Full Entry]
