Bar - Bari or Travel the coast? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A poll; should you take the ferry from Bar (Montenegro) to Bari Italy, or go along the Croatian coast and miss out on the South of Italy? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

One is to go grom Bar in Montenegro to Bari, Italy via ferry. | The other option would be to go along the Croatian coast line to the north of Italy. If route two is taken then we would have to miss out on most of southern Italy. We would probably take a trip to Roma though. Which would be more cost effective? Which would be more time effective? We have now decided to take the ferry, either from Bar or Dubrovnik. Do you know if the ferries take bikes? | Peace Pop Branko Post Count: 5 Msg: #4 4 years ago, November 18th 2005 | Good morning from Budva,Montenegro | The feryyy from Bar going to Bari and Ancona too. Please note: The ferry are very bussy in summer time, so make reservation on the time. With bikes there is not problem. Budva-Bar 30 km From Budva to Dubrovnik, if you going by bike you need minimum 4 hours. There is a ferry in Boka bay, and bussy border... Is it better to take the Ferry from Bar straight to Bari or is it better to take the ferry to Dubrovnik then to Bari? I don't have a clear understanding of the routes that the ferries can go. Peace Pop Branko Post Count: 5 Msg: #6 4 years ago, November 20th 2005 | Good morning from Budva | The ferry is not bussy in May, if you travel to Italy from Bar.The ferry start usualy in the everning and next day arrived in Bari.It takes about 10 hours. If you are going from Budva to Dubrovnik there are two ways: 1.Budva-Kotor/25km Kotor-Perast-Risan-Herceg Novi/50km-you are going arround the Bay Of Boka Kotorska. Herceg-Novi-Dubrovnik/50km 2.Budva-Tivat/25km Tivat/FERRY TO HERCEG-NOVI/It take only 10 minutes and cost you nothing if you are travel with bake, if you travel by car it cost 3 euro for the car.The passanger are free od charge. Herceg Novi -Dubrovnik/60 km. So, the different is only in routnig. The first routing you travel arround the Bay of Boka, what we strongly suggest, and the second you take short way to Dubrovnik, but you miss Bay Of Boka.. MONTENEGRO-BUDVA City with 10.000 people.Nice weather in May/from 20 to 24C/In this time of yeras not many turist. The sea temperature are 22C.Nice to goto beach. ACCOMODATION In hotels the price are from 25 to.....based on bed and breakfast Private villas the price are from 15 to 25 euro per person per day based on bed and breakfast Private rooms with toilette, the price are from 10 ro 12 euro per person. Nice lunch in averige restoran is from 6 to 10 euro, caffee from 0.50 to one euro, coca cola are 1 euro... Please note; Official CURRENCY in Montenegro is EURO. You have been incredibly helpful! | Could you tell me if there are any places to use a tent instead of staying in hostels or hotels? We would really like to camp as much as possilbe. As well we are curious about the safety of biking along the coastal roads. My girlfriend is from Podgorica, and is worried about the narrow roads and the news of many people being in car accidents in the summers.
