Diving in Thailand

We are now in Phangan and deciding whether to head to Kho Tao for a diving course.

Here with 2 friends and non of us have ever dived before but it is something that we're interested in, it seems that the PADI open water course is about 4 days and around 10,000 THB in Kho Tao. I was wondering if anyone had any diving experiences from either around here or maybe on the West coast and would be able to recommend any companies or unmissable diving locations! The plan we think is to either stay around in Phangan for some more partying or go to do something more productive after some research..

Hi there, we got dive certified in December 07 in Fiji, the dive master there had just arrived from Thailand where she worked for a company in Kaoh Lak north of Phuket. She highly recommended Similan Islands and the company she worked for was excellent but I have the name in BP and it is not with me right now. There are lots of great diving around Kaoh Lak. We are going there in a couple of days to dive the area. Hope this helps a little.
