The plan is for the three of us which includes a 2year old to fly into Geneva for a couple of days and then tour other parts of the country. We are not much into adventure sports or rigorous trekking, just relaxing & enjoying the beautiful country side. We'd love to drive around and stop at family owned B&B places in small towns. We've read and heard a lot about the 7 1/2 hour Glacier express ride from Zermatt to St. Moritz and would like to include that into our itinerary as well. The idea is to enter the country in Geneva on the 21st of May and depart from Zurich May 30th.
So we're looking for recommendations on:
1. Places to visit between Geneva and Zurich?
2. Travel via car, train or bus?
3. Places to stay?
4. Sights to see?
5. Basically design our entire holiday itinerary if you please! 😊

Somebody please give us some direction! Your recommendations will be much appreciated.

Hello...
We were there a few years ago and stubbled upon Interlaken. You'll love it there. You can see big cities anywhere, but if you really want to experience Switzerland see Interlaken. We took the train in (I think traveling by car is ok but difficult). Have a wonderful time! Reply to this

Bivin---Since you are flying into Geneva I would suggest you take one of the Lake Steamers on a round trip from the harbor in Geneva to the other end of the lake and back. Make it a dinner cruise. Your two year old will love it. The steamers are clean, comfortable and very slow. Would be a good way to "wind down" from a long flight. Everything is expensive in Geneva. We love to travel by train in Switzerland. You can purchase a train pass however must be done in the United States. Bus travel is not for us however we do rent cars when in Switzerland. Let's us go off the road and take in some mountain areas that we otherwise could not get to. We rode the Glacier Express last year and it was a great experience. We kept running into heavy snow off and on during the trip. It was winter item and both St. Moritz and Zermatt were mostly closed. Not a lot to do in their downtown areas during the winter, however since the Glacier Express starts and stops at both it was on out itinerary.Take your digital camera and extra memory cards and batteries as w you will be able to take hundreds of great photos for an everlasting memory of this trip. A camcorder will also be a plus. Take "this stuff' with you as it is expensive in Switzerland and some European items don't work with equipment shipped to the US. Reply to this
