Need help

Hello
I will be travelling to greece in july 2008, and need some help with the transportations.
Can someone please tell me the following informations:
1) I will arrive in Athens in july 7th, and stay one day, before departing to Thira. Is it enough time to buy a ferry ticket to thira? How much does it cost? Do they travel by night?
2) Is the port of Piraeus to far from Athens? And the airport, is it to far from the city?
3) When in Thira, do you feel that I will be needing a car rental, or is it easy to travel around the island? (I'll be staying in Perissas), Is this location to far from the port of Thira?
If someone could help me, answer me to my email or add me to your messenger:

Thanks

Hey!

theres one link for transportation from airport to city center in Athens I think you will find useful tips from here...

http://www.athensguide.com/airport.html

there will be enough time to buy a ticket cause you can buy it straight from the port in Pireaus or you can buy it from any of the travle agency around the port....

The port of pireaus is very easily accessible by metro ........I will add here some more links which I think you may find useful...in case you feel that you need more help let me know and i will take more time for it😊

There are few ways to get to Athens fron the airport (bus, taxi, metro or train). We chosed the train - to Larissa railway station - it's faster (only 40 min) and you can leave the luggage there in a safety box (3 euro for 24 h). A ticket costs 6 euro but for 2 persons you pay only 10.
From the railway station you can take the metro to Omonia (2 stations) and then change it for Piraeus (end of line). The ticket is 80 cents.
So the entire travel from the airport to Piraues takex aprox. 1 hour.
In the port and near it you can find lots of boots selling tickets for ferries but as long as I haven't traveled to Thira I can't give you more details regarding ferries departure hours or car rental there. There is always an option to rent a motor byke, a byke or an ATV, depending on your wish and the roads. If you rent a car, be careful and test it thoroughly before you take it to avoid any unpleasant surprises as breaks not functioning properly (I experienced that!).
I wish you a nice trip and waiting for you with impressions when you come back.
