Hi i'm travelling to queensland next week and want to do some fruit picking work as my travelling funds are running low. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions from experience on the towns to work and what the job is really like? I was thinking of heading to Bundaberg, anyone no what the place is like?

G'day mate,
I lived up North for a bit and can say that harvesting or fruit picking is pretty hard work. But if you've got to do it then I'd say head further North to escape the winter. Loads of places around Cairns and Townsville employe almost solely backpackers. What I've seen of the accom conditions ranges from caravans and shacks to sharing full on houses. Hunt around and check out the property before committing to anything.
Good luck... Reply to this

Hello, I lived in Brisbane for two years and visited some places in Queensland. Ive heard about Bundaberg which is far from the city of Brisbane but not much info about it. There are places near Brisbane like in Toowoomba and Gatton area (near the Uni of Qld campus) where alot of farming can be found where some of my friends did summer work for fruit picking! Good money for people who are really hardworking. Good luck!
