Finding a hostel

Hi,
I will be visiting Western Europe from 23June to 15July (England, France, Austria, and Germany).
Do you guys think that hostels with a vacant room (bed) will be hard to find if I don\'t make a reservation in advance?
Any experience of not being able to find a hostel bed??
