I am 61 year old male in good shape for walking, traveling solo with backpack only (hopefully); keeping costs down, vegetarian diet, want to feel like more a local than a tourist. want to experience as much as possible of the areas, realizing I can't see it all. Reply to this

There is an excellent train service between Berlin and Munich. Takes only 4-5 hours. Maybe reserve a seat. Dachau can be reached by local trains. But Rothenburg is more difficult to be reached from Berlin or Munich by train. Better by car. Leipzig is not so interesting. More attractions are in Dresden or Neuschwanstein. We loved our time in Berlin and Munich. We'd love to go back and visit Dresden.

If you want to add on an easy day trip or overnight, Salzburg is just a 1.5 hour ride from Munich! Beautiful town! Reply to this
