Fox or Franz Josef?!!

Which Glacier Hike?

I\'m off to NZ in June and want to do a glacier hike. Anybody done both Fox and Franz Joesf and have a preference? I\'m loooking for exhilaration, scenic beauty etc. I know there are more hostels in Franz Josef but I\'m also planning to skydive over the region from Fox. Any comments welcome! Reply to this

I'd do the Franz Josef hike. There are more hotels and also guided tours etc. at Franz Josef. Basically a lot more general activity around that glacier. Also, the Franz Josef glacier has more organised hiking groups where they usually supply you with all the gear and take you out on a hike. Much safer than going it alone! The Fox glacier is also amazing, if you get the chance, see it first thing in the morning when the sun is rising, it really is an incredible sight. Have a great time! Reply to this
