Cruising Italy?

Is a med cruise a good way to see Italy?
17 years ago, April 6th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #12557
I am in charge of planning an extended family (16 people) mecca to Italy. I am not interested in being the designated tour director, as in herding everyone along on time. I am thinking that I get everyone to Florence via air, travel by train to Venice, then board them all on a cruise (Princess cruiseline) from Venice to Rome, around the boot. The cruise ports are Ravenna, Split Croatia, Sicily, Malta, Sorrento, Livorno for Pisa, Portofino, and disembarks in Rome. After the cruise, we would spend two extra days in Rome before traveling home. Any insights would be appreciated. Reply to this
