Who pays for guide's meals?

If one hires a guide and one goes to a restaurant, who pays for guide's food?

We don't usually hire a guide, but we may have one during one or more days of our travels in European Russia. If the guide takes us to a "great" restaurant during a day of touring do we need to pay for the guide's meal, does the guide stay outside and not eat, does the guide pay for his/her own meal? We are truely confused. What have other's experienced? Thanks. Reply to this
