I'm going to Paris in three weeks and would like to plan a couple day trips outside the city.
Any suggestions of what's doable in a day (not including Versailles)? What should not be missed?
Reply to this Dijon is a nice place to visit though its not really a day trip since its ~3hrs by train. Its a laid back charming town, especially if you go in slightly off season. Its the beginning of wine country and you could take biking / wine tours from there.

I researched Dijon a little and it does look charming! Maybe we can squeeze it into a day...I've done crazier things I guess. Have you been to Mont Saint Michel? It looks to be equally as far. Which would be better? or is it impossible to choose?
Reply to this I would recommend taking the train to Monet's home. We loved it there.
It is a cute town. The house and grounds are lovely to explore. They have a nice gift shop with great jewelry!

Reply to this We loved it..... a very special setting. A very small cute town.
Can't wait to hear your impressions.
Reply to this Mont st. Michele is wonderful but too far from Paris for a day trip. I recommend Monet's garden and definitely Rouen where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake.
