Gibb River Road

We have just completed the Gibb River Road and as an update on its condition I can report: it was corrugated for nearly the full 670klm but mostly the corrugations were not too bad. Travelled at average of 60Klm/hr and dropped tyre pressures to 28psi, van the same (it is a true off road van).

Biggest problem was rocky surface in many parts, (they use rock, not gravel on the road surface in many areas), which again if speed was dropped (to around 50klm/hr we travelled over easily. Over 7 days saw at least one vehicle with a tyre blowout on each of the days and saw a few in 'recovery mode' (they were not going anywhere without the help of a tilt truck. El Questro was very expensive but in an ideal setting and we loved Home Valley Station. Reply to this
