Barcelona Hotels/To Do

Have u been to Barcelona before? I have never been out of the country (other than Mexico), I have no idea about where to stay & what to do & where to go in Barcelona. I heard las ramblas is nice, is there another area that is nice. I am looking at the Pullman Barcelona Skipper hotel, is that a good hotel & good area? I am interested in that because I want to play on the beach but be in walking distance to las ramblas (which I dont know if it is) and I think there is an aquarium around there as well. Any feedback & suggestions would help so much! thank u
