Tell us about the most chilled out tunes you have come across on your travels.
The first is a track is one that I was introduced to by a fellow traveller in India: Pat Metheney's 'It's Just Talk' takes you back to an age of simplicity. I can just picture myself spending a lazy afternoon on a beach back in the late 1970s listening to this. Maximum respect is due for the simply sublime piano solo just after the 2 minute mark.
The second is from a CD I inadvertently just happened to buy in Nepal. Despite the fact that Moorcheeba is a relatively unknown group from the UK, it has an element of transcendental American funk to it. This track 'On the Rhodes again' is one of the coolest I have ever heard. The scratched record effect is supposed to be there....
Finally, I'd like to share another great song courtesy of David Axelrod. Holy Thursday is another song that will take you back in time. It's cool vibes have you daydreaming about cruising the boulevards of Los Angeles in a 1969 Dodge Charger.....or whichever other muscle car takes your fancy.....

Reply to this Great choices, Nick. Morcheeba has some great tracks ("The Sea" is a good one) and I enjoyed the other ones.
Probably the most long-lasting chill track I've listened to for years (before "Mortal Kombat" and "Hackers" used it for their OST) is Orbital's "Halcyon On and On"
Reply to this A wonderful chill out song and one of the most gorgeous videos I have ever seen. It is sometimes so easy to forget how beautiful this small planet we live on is. Thanks for sharing this Michelle 😊
Reply to this Oh Morcheeba and Orbital.... Amazing artists!!!! Been lucky enough to see both live and they are simply amazing!!!
before "Mortal Kombat" and "Hackers" used it for their OST
. Wow talk about showing your age!!! 😊
I remember watching Hackers for the first time and thinking "Wow, Prodigy... Wow, Orbital... Wow Underworld". It's like they'd literally used my CD collection!!! Great film, looks naff now!!!
I don't have a lot of 'chill out music' in the traditional sense... I like Metal and alternative mainly and I find that relaxing... But I have been following these guys since thier first album captured my heart, lying in a cool festival tent with my head in the lap of my beautiful girlfriend who's now my beautiful wife!
Lamb The entire soundtrack to our wedding was set to them and we named our second son Gabriel after one of their songs which was also the song for our first dance.
Angelica is a great track although I'm struggling to get a good video... Not sure if they ever released it as a non-album version..

It's been so long since I saw Hackers. I remember that movie was the first time I heard Prodigy and hated Firestarter, but it slowly grew on me and I ended up conflictedly (<--not a word, but it fits) liking it.
Great track you shared and equally heartwarming story. I'm biased towards pianos, and the short house/drum n' bass rhythms were nostalgic, hahaha.
Dave: Love the instrumentals, very mellow with a groove.
Reply to this NO SWEETER SOUND...this one from Japan
STOMU YAMASHTA & EAST WIND...from the LP "Freedom is Frightening"
the ethereal...."Wind Words"

Reply to this Great stuff Dave 😊
Try this one from Watussi....I just love the simplicity of this song and of course the Latin beat mixed with House of Pain's 'Jump Around'. I'll have to try and make my English lessons this exciting 😉
Reply to this NICK, MICHELLE & MICHAEL
Great contributions to this Chill thread...keep them coming.
Reply to this A little mainstream, but I love this track, produced by Chicane and features the beautifully haunting voice of Moya Brennan from Clannad.......
Reply to this Another great chill out sound courtesy of the French group Telepopmusik.....

LE TRIO JOUBRAN from PALESTINE
Reply to this I happened upon this tune whilst watching
Long Way Down tonight on DVD, the series where Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor motorcycle their way from Scotland to South Africa. This song was featured in the 4th episode of the extended series as they travelled through Sudan.
The Kenyan artist is Ayub Ogada and the song is Kothiboro. There is a real spaciousness to the music that is so beautiful that it gives me chills when I listen. Magical.
Reply to this I'm a songwriter from Canada that has been living in Costa Rica for the past 4 months. It's definitely influenced the creation of some new songs with both topic and style reflecting the laid back feel of this beach community. Here's one, named after a local restaurant on the beach:
