Tonights the big night...well here in Oz anyway :) What do you do to celebrate christmas....or your equivalent annual festival whereever you might be from?
Tonight is the big night here in Australia. My 4 year old is just going to bed so soon Santas helpers will have to get all the pressies ready under the tree. In Perth it will be around 32 degrees celcius tomorrow which is actually a coolish day for us this year so we'll have family over in the morning for a champagne breakfast, croissants and bacon and eggs. Probably no swimming in the pool as it wont quite be warm enough but the kids might play under the sprinkler. We will open nearly all the presents from family afar and Santas presents will have magically arrived under the tree for the kids.
Lunch will be a full family affair with crayfish, prawns and squid for entree...then cold ham, cold chicken and cold turkey with some salads...pototoe salad, greek salad and coleslaw. Then christmas pudding for dessert covered in custard and cream...mmmm cream.
I've really enjoyed joining this community and love hearing everyones stories of what they are up to. Some of you truly inspire me with the amount of travelling or what amazing journies youve completed. I hope you have all had a great 2011 and are looking forward to 2012!

Reply to this Hello Tam and family 😊
To celebrate Christmas we(me, my boyfriend and daughter) just do a few more things than usual that we enjoy, that we normally would limit for the sake of our waist lines, bank balance, getting productive things done... So, it is a day of eating, giving presents to ourselves and others, sitting around...

Reply to this Merry Christmas!
We journeyed to the city so we could go xmas malling cos we were all beached out.
Early this morning the kids ripped open their presents in a Bangkok hotel room -- then at 9am I had a job interview via SKYPE for a position in Shanghai. I've only ever had about 2 interviews in my entire life so that certainly makes up for it!
This was followed by a buffet dinner at the Swissotel for the obligatory turkey, sprouts and mince pies followed by some pool action. Though I should really break away and pop across the road and buy some batteries for those toys!

Reply to this Christmas is already over here for another year :-(
The family got together for brunch, then presents. After a skype session with my sister who's in Sydney, it was dinner outside in the late afternoon sun.
It's now 1am Boxing Day, and I'm holding out staying awake for another hour before heading to the airport :-)
Reply to this We've just finished with most of Christmas festivities here in the states. Dinner was a local baked ham, my Northwest holiday stuffing, potatoes au gratin, green beans and hot buttered rums. Baked and decorated sugar cookies, hung the stockings at the fireplace, listened to classic holiday songs, then this morning to exchange gifts and make calls to the family and relatives.
Cold here, but sunny and bright and not a flake of snow to be seen on the forecast. Merry Christmas all (and Happy Hannukah too)!

Reply to this Happy New year everyone. Sorry I missed you in Sydney Jo.
Both of our families were working over Christmas so Sylvia and I took ourselves off to a wilderness resort in the Hunter Valley, north of Sydney. We lounged in our chairs beside the pool, ate too much, drank too much, didn't go for all of the walks we had promised ourselves and watched the wildlife. Bliss.
We then had our family Christmas on New Year's Day. Need to join a gym now!
